Transportation Dept. Asks Justice Dept. To Open Criminal Investigation Into Former Secretary Elaine Chao, Wife Of Mitch McConnell

The IG referred it to the DOJ for criminal prosecution but trump's DOJ refused to prosecute her.
This was not the only time the DoJ did not even investigate a Trump cabinet member referred for a criminal investigation.
Billy the Bagman strikes again.

"Robert Wilkie, Trump Veterans Affairs secretary, investigated for corruption, resulted in referral to the DOJ, Trump's DOJ declined to prosecute," said Maddow. "Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, investigated for corruption. Found to be substantive and serious enough it was referred to Justice Department for criminal prosecution. Trump's Justice Department declined to prosecute. Also, Trump Labor Secretary Alex Acosta was investigated for corruption. Found to be serious enough he was referred to the Department of Justice for potential prosecution. The Trump Justice Department declined to prosecute him as well.

Yes there were several investigations referred to the DOJ with the DOJ refusing to follow up and prosecute the criminals.

The trump administration was the most corrupt administration in my lifetime.

The corruption of the trump administration keeps coming out. He had one of the most corrupt administrations in my lifetime.

Not even close to his predecessor, O, who had the most corrupt admin in the history of the US.

she should be locked up

How Trump cracked down on China!

"While serving as transportation secretary during the Trump administration, Elaine Chao repeatedly used her office staff to help family members who run a shipping business with extensive ties to China..."
So she acted like a demscum? Go after pelosi for doing the same thing and I will care.

Where's Hunter? He's not some senator's wife, he's a very corrupt scion of the president.
Which government department was he a member of?

Color me shocked-not....How many more Trump era employees will get into trouble?

Up next, a pro-Trump fan will interject that they are violating Elain's freedom of speech by prosecuting her.

Actually she was the 4th Trump cabinet secretary that had an IG probe referred to the US attorney for prosecution. Zinke was another one.

But then, since it was Trumps DOJ, did you expect them to prosecute anything Trump or Trump appointed?

the Deep State grinds a submarine sailor into dust for taking a photograph but allows hillary to get way with exposing hundreds of classified documenrs to the russians chinese and irans

A marine buddy back in 1980 tried to take a picture of a U-2 while stationed in Pensacola. Two armed guards spotted him with his camera, went over to him and gave him a choice of them taking his film, or taking him to the brig.

They take photographing classified stuff seriously.

Well then, the IRS needs to find out this rule..

I'm trying to find out if Trump donated his Q3 and Q4 for 2020 to charity. So far there's no record of something Trump regularly tweeted out.

Maybe he used his $100,000 quarterly salary to pay his lawyer Rudy Giuliani the $20,000 a day he asked for.

Ethics investigations into inappropriate behavior in the past of members of the former administration who aren't even in office? What the hell is going on?

The ethics investigation was referred to the DOJ on December 16th and to the ethics section of DOJ on Dec 17th.

The DOJ at the time declined to prosecute.

But there's a new sheriff in town, and the complaint is still ripe.

Glad there was a link to the letter in the article in really helped understand what they really said:

Grants Benefiting Kentucky: "We did not find any irregularities. Of particular note, we found that Kentucky did not receive a disproportionate share of INFRA or BUILD grants." " Moreover, our review of the grant files and our interviews with DOT staff involved in the selection and award process did not find evidence of steering."

Vulcan Materials Stock: We found no evidence that the Secretary participated in any particular matter pertaining to Vulcan Materials in violation of the main financial conflict of interest law, 18 U.S.C. § 208. According to the career Deputy General Counsel, who serves as DOT’s Designated Agency Ethics Official (DAEO), the Secretary’s recusal from Vulcan—which was distributed to senior staff early in her tenure—was never lifted"

Now there is evidence, that she used her staff to do some personal things, like shipping Xmas presents, etc....that was wrong, not criminal, but wrong.

She also used her official position to try and assist her family with high level contacts into the Chinese government. When speaking for the US, she also spoke for her family.

So the wife of a sitting Senator found a way to game the system.

This is my shocked face...

In her time as former President Donald Trump's transportation secretary, Elaine Chao repeatedly used her position and agency staff to help family members who run a shipping business with ties to China, in potential violation of federal ethics laws, according to an Office of Inspector General report. ....

Yet during her time at the Department of Transportation, Chao's office handled matters related to her father, James Chao, who founded the shipping company Foremost Group, and her sister, Angela Chao, who runs the company.

Secretary Chao made extensive plans to include family members in events during her official trip to China in November 2017. The itinerary included stops at Shanghai Maritime University and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and other locations that had received support from her family's business.

Chao also requested, through the State Department, for China's Transport Ministry to arrange for two vehicles for her delegation, which included her sister and father. Officials at the State and Transportation departments raised ethics concerns with the trip and it was ultimately canceled.

Looks like Trumps' administration, once again, compromised our national security by having a security risk in a high position.

This thread is not about Elain Chao as much as it is about the Trump Administration turning a blind eye to potential foreign interference in our affairs.

Fake news deflection. We don't want to talk about Eric Swalwell and Diane Feinstein, do we? Wink wink.

Look at all this whataboutism. LOL This is about Trump giving the Chinese access to out highest level of govenment and then refusing to follow through when it became apparent his Transportation chief was in cahoots with them.
