As the OP says, if you could change one law, which one would you change and why? This doesn't mean bill, but rather a single law.

I'd be interested in hearing the answers.

With all the ones to choose from, how could I choose just one?

However, to answer: The one law id change is the 16th amendment. Id abolish it.

That's what makes this thread so interesting.

And why the 16th amendment the most?

I'd get rid of the Federal Reserve Act. The government's ability to manipulate the money supply to finance the expanse of big government, and large banks ability to shift risk to taxpayers are two of the worst things that have happened to the U.S.

Because it is the single law that provides the Federal Government with almost limitless control over our lives.

Second choice would probably be repealing the 17th amendment.

Oh c'mon...only one?

I would like to change a few in New York...

1.
Women may go topless in public, providing it is not being used as a "business".
I think "business" women should go topless if they want to.

2.
Citizens may not greet each other by “putting one’s thumb to the nose and wiggling the fingers”.
Now why would that be offensive?

3.
A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket.
Huh?

4.
Slippers are not to be worn after 10:00 PM.
Why?

Prepares to get slammed for this:

The Patriot Act.

Because I feel it was and is a threat to our civil liberties whether it has yet to have been used against Americans or not.

Immie

Those are good answers, I myself would like to repeal the National Firearms Act of 1934, with the Gun Control Act of 1986 coming in a close second. I feel they as well as many other gun control laws are unconstitutional without another amendment repealing the 2nd amendment.

I would ban any and all lobbiests and force our politicians to work only for the people of this nation..

Yeah heaven forbid people talk to their politicians. We need to ban people from talking to their politicians so our politicians can do the peoples work.

Because clearly the people interfere with the "people's work" way too much.

And you guys still dont understand why marxism is bad.

You're not trolling so I don't guess I will either.

Any of our silly drug laws. The people should have freedom of choice, especially with their bodies. The government has no right to intervene.
