If Trump is impeached (again) will republicans be forced to convict?

Impeachment is a function of congress, and has no effect on the running of the government,
Congress has no effect on running government?

Congress has "oversight" and they provide funding through budgets and appropriations, and the laws they operate under. But congress don't tell the executive branch what to do, or how to do it.

Separation of powers.

Okay, so a few posters that have joined this thread have reminded me of the large number of folks who are going to be highly upset all over again if there is an impeachment proceeding. Do we want that bleeding again? Is that worth the price to ensure Trump can't start campaigning for 2024? It's a damned high price. And there's a chance he'll be incarcerated. Think carefully.
What is the price of NOT impeaching Trump. It means that we've said, you can commit high crimes and misdemeanors, such as sedition against the government, and get away with it.

Trump retains the power to pardon everybody who participated in the assault on the Capitol Building. No matter how crazy it sounds, Trump has the power to give blanket pardons, which could actually be a way for a president to pardon himself.
Yes, it's a sh1tty situation, but our politicians prefer to look out for their political futures rather than do the right thing.

The COVID-19 stimulus bills gifted multi-billions of dollars to the nation's 651 billionaires, but average Americans have received only $1800 each. Yes, our politicians look out for their political futures above all else. Their favorite contributors received borrowed cash that increased the federal debt several trillion dollars.

Will trump be impeached? Not likely. It's too risky to many political futures.

I quite easily see Trump being impeached, since it only requires the democratic majority in the house to do so. I'm speculating about whether Trump could be convicted in the 50/50 senate.

We are in very uncertain legal times. Never before have so many constitutional questions that were never raised before are being raised.

They need 18 Republicans to convict? If McConnell is one, there's a good chance. If not, then no. But every one of them will be on the record and responsible for whatever happens.
Any senate trial will take place well after Trump is out of office. Their vote to convict will be purely ceremonial, as it will change nothing. But more importantly is the second vote they can then take to disqualify Trump from public office, which can be passed by a simple majority and not require any republicans.

13 of those senators need to be censured and thrown out.

THat should solve the treason problem for a while

Best to use the Magnistky Act to confiscate all their large donors' assets though, just for good measure

Trumps first impeachment trial had every republican vote "not guilty" where they said the reason was that the removal of the president shouldn't be by the judgement of congress, but in the hands of the people in the next election.

Despite lies about voter fraud, the people have voted Trump "guilty", so republicans will need a new reason to ignore the facts of the case. And the case for impeachment is about more than just removal from office, which will be a moot point by the time it goes to trial.

Oooooh I hate Trump soooooo much. Impeach him again yeaaaaahhhh Impeach him again!!!

Not necessarily.

It strips a lot of perks away from him. It keeps him from running again. It gets Republicans on the record. It pisses off Trumpanzees.

The fact that Biden's inauguration is just days away gets the Republican crooks off the hook. So they will never need to answer your question about the need for a new reason to ignore the facts of the case.

.
Although it may appear moot, if articles of impeachment are made against President Trump, then the senate by law must hold a trial, even if days or weeks or months after the president was already removed from office by election.

good idea...

waste MORE time trying to get Trump.

Don't worry about covid, the economy, the stimulus, etc.

BINGO!

In their eyes, it isn't a waste, they are too emotionally involved now. And the propagandists see. . . . only $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No intelligent person sees him as a threat at this point. . .

That isn't the point with this issue.

Whether or not they are actually successful with impeachment is not the point. They are not being honest, he'll be gone either way in a couple weeks, this is about milking the fact that it doesn't matter if a person is on the left, or the right, his name and antics brings in views. That is what the establishment cabal want to keep in the press, and keep those advertisers happy with.

The point is to keep it in the press, so that the media can make a huge profit, keep folks distracted and keeping it a story, despite other very real and important issues. . . .

If these folks weren't so dull, they would have understood from their education the role he is playing. . . .

If Trump had more than a month left then yes let Impeach and the Senate better convict but with less than two weeks left it is best to just use all the powers of Congress to strip the President of any powers he has and leave him there as a figurehead until January 20th...

That will drive him more insane because then he is nothing but a powerless leader that is just waiting time out!

How anyone deny voter fraud when seeing film as it happened is one stupid sob.

If Biden even gets in, he should be the one that is automatically impeached for being involved in rigging the election. Again the Democrypts are trying to point the other way because they are the treasonous traitors to this country, along with the whore Rhinos and Neocons. See below:

Naturally every single Democrat in Congress was confirmed as a traitor. But most members of the GOP also joined the “traitor” list. The Gateway Pundit published the full list of treasonous GOP members this morning, all of whom voted against the objections to the Biden slate of electors:

On the Senate side, there were only seven US Senators who held the line and voted to object to the election fraud. These are the only seven US Senators who aren’t traitors:

Sen. Ted Cruz
Sen. Josh Hawley
Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith
Sen. Cynthia Lummis
Sen. Roger Marshall
Sen. John Kennedy
Sen. Tommy Tuberville

Only now does Trump have the final arrest list of treasonous actors who betrayed America in our final hour. In fact, there’s no way Trump could have known all this unless the scenario was allowed to run its course.

There was one more senator, Rick Scott from FL, who was among 7 that voted to object to the PA electors

Actually is not required by law that the Senate conduct a trial. It is the current Senate rule they do (enacted by the GOP), but legally they could just change the rules.
