Yes, the East Village was under water so I expect that things are pretty sketchy on 4th street.

Obama minions who have infiltrated the Red Cross told the Romney Campaign not to gather food so that the media could focus more one photo ops for Obama. Meanwhile, our brothers and sisters in East Village are scouring dumpsters for food and people on Staten Island are pleading for food!

Red Cross prefers financial donations rather than goods for disasters.

Because they can embezzle it. They actually have to distribute food to people who need it.

Riiiiiiiiiight!
Now the Red Cross are corrupt.

Your story doesn't make much sense.
The Red Cross and the National Guard arrived in the area late Tuesday and are distributing food, water and gas – and city officials say things are much better.

Tuesday was one day after the storm.

What do you think those little red and white trucks (ERV's) are doing in your neighborhood? Collecting blankets? They're delivering food. Food bought by the Red Cross and cooked by mostly Southern Baptist and Salvation Army mobile kitchens. It's a VERY expensive operation, one which requires millions of dollars.

That's why it's dollars they need, not canned goods or other stuff which has to be collected, sorted, inspected, transported and distributed. It's a HUGE waste of time and resources which the victims cannot tolerate and may or may not meet their immediate needs.

If you want to help, give money or your time. If you don't feel comfortable donating to the Red Cross, there are others who need the money too. For instance, the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief efforts are funded totally by donations and every single penny is spent on disaster relief. Nothing is taken out for salaries, fund raising, expenses or anything else. It ALL goes to fund disaster relief. If you'd like to donate, you can do so here:

Just FYI, the Baptist's are marshaling resources to meet the needs of storm victims with food, chainsaw help, mudding out flooded homes, child care and water purification as we speak. Teams are flooding into the area from all over the country and that costs money...a lot of it. Just our Oklahoma Baptist's are sending 2 feeding units, 2 chainsaw crews, a mud-out crew, a child care unit and a shower unit to the NE today. More than 100 volunteers, who do NOT get paid, and more than a dozen vehicles, including 2 18 wheeler's. Just the cost of fuel alone will run into multiple thousands of dollars.

Instead of bitching and trying to make political hay off others sufferings, how about pitching in to get the job done?

Thanks for that blissful update worthy of an Obama regime. Meanwhile, our brothers and sisters are digging through dumpsters in search of food as the media records it.

Do you not know the meaning of embezzle? Of course they engage in some legitimate frontline activities. But we donate enough to them that there's no excuse for anyone not to be getting food during the relief period.

You know, you are such an idiot.

If he wants daylight, he should look in a mirror; he'd find it between his ears.

You're just looking for an excuse to gripe. People embezzle money from Walmart too, but I'll bet that doesn't stop you from shopping there, right? If you've got a problem with the Red Cross...fine. Give to we Southern Baptist's. We won't steal it.

As for getting food during a relief period? The storm just hit last Tuesday and all of the bridges and tunnels into New York were closed for a period of time. Neither the Red Cross nor anyone else can make food and the means of delivery just materialize out of thin air and especially when there are transportation difficulties. The RC, FEMA, even we Baptist's, pre-positioned equipment and supplies NEAR the storm area, but even then it takes time to determine where it's needed, actually get there and get set up and start cooking. That has to be done before the first morsel of food goes out and it's not done fast enough to suit you, that's too bad. Logistics and time are real issues. It's being done as rapidly as possible, but none of us are miracle workers.

Your simplistic, uninformed ideas about how disaster relief is delivered really adds nothing to the conversation. Maybe you oughta get off your duff and get involved. Then, you might know something.

Let me lead with this is where I stopped reading cos you're not that interesting. As for the Wal Mart stuff, what are you smoking?

And yea, I want to gripe. We shouldn't have to put up with an inept Red Cross. If they're not going to fullfill the most basic tenets of their mission then we need to start looking into other alternatives. It is unacceptable that anyone should be starving during a crisis for how much money we give them.

Did anyone actually expect the president not to be on TV during this? Ignore it and you draw comparisons to katrina. Better to look like you are trying and have people claim its political (like anything isn't 5 days from an election).
