The more I think about it the more I miss Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget.

Bill Clinton reformed welfare.

Pork barrel spending was 1/10th its current levels.

The world respected us.

No one challenged American power.

The economy was booming, and it wasn't because of an artificial loosening of monetary policy that drove the housing market to absurd levels.

Bill Clinton didn't oversee the greatest and least well-planned expansion of the welfare system since the 60s.

The Justice Department wasn't used as a political weapon.

Clinton didn't reclassify American citizens as "enemy combatants" and then try to deny them habeas corpus and due process.

Clinton didn't try to override democracy with unconstitutional signing statements.

Wages rose under during the Clinton administration.

Bill Clinton didn't defund the NSF, destroying our innovative edge.

Bill Clinton didn't manipulate and obsure science for political ends.

Bill Clinton appointed professionals to run government agencies such as the EPA, the FDA, and NASA, not lobbiests.

Bill Clinton didn't try to appoint his personal attorney to the Supreme Court.

Bill Clinton didn't exploit the memories of one of our nation's greatest tragedies to start a war that will cost $1 trillion dollars, increase terrorism, hurt the army, damage our reputation and fail to produce results.

Bill Clinton actually won the war in the Balkans, and stopped a genocide.

Bill Clinton didn't have the lowest approval rating of any President of the past 50 years.

Bill Clinton didn't impose an overly complex, underfunded educational program that failed to produce anything but the most marginal results.

Bill Clinton earned his Georgetown degree, Rhodes Scholarship, Yale Law degree, governorship and Presidency. He didn't have it handed to him by his father.

Bill Clinton worked with the opposition on issues ranging from immigration, social security, welfare and the budget.

The only problems I have with President Clinton were his failure to stop the Rwandan genocide and I think he could have done more to deal with Osama, but at the point in time no one even knew who he was, so I can't truely blame him.

Frankly I miss the days when the biggest issue at hand was the fact that our President was too much of a pimp for some people.

He was also opposed to gay marriage. What's El Busho's opinion on that again?

It is a sad day for the GOP when "their" president supports open borders, unlimited spending and affirmative action, and the contenders to succeed him support public funding for abortion, civil unions and amnesty.

Are the communists running anyone in '08? 'Cause what the hell...

Unlike Bush, Clinton was opposed to gay MARRIAGE but supported civil unions - like many democrats, myself included. I, for one, think that government should stay out of the marriage business altogether and leave that the sole province of religions. The state should be involved in licensing civil unions period.

And as a democrat, I must say I am quite pleased that the front runner for the GOP is a pro-chioce, pro-gun control, pro-gay rights moderate new yorker.... methinks the religious right will stay home on election day if he is the nominee.

The more I think about it the more I miss Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget.

By gutting our military and leaving us exposed to international terrorism

Bill Clinton reformed welfare.

Only when forced to do so by the GOP's Contract With America reforms.

Pork barrel spending was 1/10th its current levels.

You need a new calculator.

The world respected us.

Your memory is very faulty. Socialists, Communists, Totalitarian Dictators, and the Euro Elites on the skids have hated us for decades.

No one challenged American power.

Anyone remember the 1993 WTC bombing, Kobar Towers, the USS Cole...

The economy was booming, and it wasn't because of an artificial loosening of monetary policy that drove the housing market to absurd levels.

The economy was booming due to the lag effect of the Reagan tax cuts and the post slump bounce after the Gulf War recession. The late 90s was actually a period of phony prosperity based upon excessive dotcom/telecom exuberance, exacerbated by Y2K temporary investment. To think that should have been a permanent economic expansion was falllacious.

Bill Clinton didn't oversee the greatest and least well-planned expansion of the welfare system since the 60s.

No, that was done decades earlier with the formation of Social Security.

The Justice Department wasn't used as a political weapon.

No, Clinton just used it to avoid prosecution for his corruption by firing ALL 93 attorneys.

Clinton didn't reclassify American citizens as "enemy combatants" and then try to deny them habeas corpus and due process.

That's right - he classified terrorists as common criminals and emboldened Al Qaeda to conduct the biggest attack on U.S. soil in history.

Clinton didn't try to override democracy with unconstitutional signing statements.

No, instead he did an end run around the Constitution by giving his wife a political appointment to re-engineer our health care system in secret.

Wages rose under during the Clinton administration.

They are rising during the Bush one as well.

Bill Clinton didn't defund the NSF, destroying our innovative edge.

Our competitive edge comes from private industry - not government bureaucracies.

Bill Clinton didn't manipulate and obsure science for political ends.

He spent his time manipulating our language instead (it all depends upon what the meaning of Is Is).

Bill Clinton appointed professionals to run government agencies such as the EPA, the FDA, and NASA, not lobbiests.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!! They are all just career politicians. Bubbah himself is now a lobbyist.

Bill Clinton didn't try to appoint his personal attorney to the Supreme Court.

Serving in an advisory position to a president doesn't disqualify an attorney from serving in other roles.

Bill Clinton didn't exploit the memories of one of our nation's greatest tragedies to start a war that will cost $1 trillion dollars, increase terrorism, hurt the army, damage our reputation and fail to produce results.

No, he just caused the situation that made the war necessary by not taking terrorism seriously.

Bill Clinton actually won the war in the Balkans, and stopped a genocide.

Clinton's bombing of Kosovo killed more people (6,000) than actually died in the war civil war (2,000). As tragic as the deaths of 2,000 people are, they are not genocide.

Bill Clinton didn't have the lowest approval rating of any President of the past 50 years.

It's easy to be popular if one doesn't take a stand for unpopular, yet moral, causes.

Bill Clinton didn't impose an overly complex, underfunded educational program that failed to produce anything but the most marginal results.

That's because he'd rather keep the black voters ignorant and dependent upon the Democratic party. Lack of literacy keeps the folks in their place.

Bill Clinton earned his Georgetown degree, Rhodes Scholarship, Yale Law degree, governorship and Presidency. He didn't have it handed to him by his father.

Wow! Bush's father is Really Powerful! I didn't realize that we had no national election in 2000 or 2004 - but that Daddy Bush just gave Dubya the keys to the White House!

Dubya went to Yale, and earned an MBA from Harvard. His GPA was higher than Gore's.

Bill Clinton worked with the opposition on issues ranging from immigration, social security, welfare and the budget.

He was fortunate to have an opposition that was willing to act in the interest of the country instead of one that wants to hurt the country as a political strategy for the 2008 election.

The only problems I have with President Clinton were his failure to stop the Rwandan genocide and I think he could have done more to deal with Osama, but at the point in time no one even knew who he was, so I can't truely blame him.

That's because Sandy Berger destroyed the documents.

Frankly I miss the days when the biggest issue at hand was the fact that our President was too much of a pimp for some people.

He wasn't a pimp - he was just a slimebag who abused the power of his office.

By gutting our military and leaving us exposed to international terrorism
Really? I didn't realize that spending $450 billion per year equated to "gutting" the military.

Only when forced to do so by the GOP's Contract With America reforms.
Which goes to further demonstrate Clinton's willingness to work with the opposition.

You need a new calculator.

Really? Because according to Citizens Against Government Waste (http://www.cagw.org) and the Heritage Foundation pork spending has increased from 2.6 billion to 29 billion, with the greatest increases seen during the Bush Administration.

Your memory is very faulty. Socialists, Communists, Totalitarian Dictators, and the Euro Elites on the skids have hated us for decades.
Really? The Economist disagrees:

Anyone remember the 1993 WTC bombing, Kobar Towers, the USS Cole...
Anyone remember Iran, North Korea, Russia, China or Venezuela, you know, actual problems, acting up like they are now? Nope.

The economy was booming due to the lag effect of the Reagan tax cuts and the post slump bounce after the Gulf War recession. The late 90s was actually a period of phony prosperity based upon excessive dotcom/telecom exuberance, exacerbated by Y2K temporary investment. To think that should have been a permanent economic expansion was fallacious.
Really? The 1986 Reagan tax cuts took 15 years to work? I'm an econ major. bullshit.

No, that was done decades earlier with the formation of Social Security.
Well one, 80% of Americans disagree with you on the well-planned part, and, two, forgive me if I'm wrong, but weren't the 30s before the 60s? Since we're talking about welfare reform since the 60s how is that relevant?

No, Clinton just used it to avoid prosecution for his corruption by firing ALL 93 attorneys.
You mean like the current Bush did? And Reagan? How dare they follow standard political practice since the 50s. Even Republican Senators are calling Gonzales' actions wrong.

That's right - he classified terrorists as common criminals and emboldened Al Qaeda to conduct the biggest attack on U.S. soil in history.
So are you saying that you believe the government has the right to deny US citizens their Constitutional rights?

No, instead he did an end run around the Constitution by giving his wife a political appointment to re-engineer our health care system in secret.
You mean like Cheney and the energy commission? Oh wait, the Clinton Health care Plan was presented to the country and rejected, what's more democratic then that. And are you implying that this President has the right to override our representatives as he sees fit.

They are rising during the Bush one as well.
Only if you discount inflation and the rise in the cost of living standards.

Our competitive edge comes from private industry - not government bureaucracies.
Congratulations, you're officially ignorant.

He spent his time manipulating our language instead (it all depends upon what the meaning of Is Is).
I can't believe you're actually trying to justify this. No really, this is hilarious.

Serving in an advisory position to a president doesn't disqualify an attorney from serving in other roles.
Ha, now you're saying Harriet Miers was qualified for the Supreme Court. HA. Not even the RNC stands next to Bush on this one.

No, he just caused the situation that made the war necessary by not taking terrorism seriously.
Since when was the Iraq War necessary. I don't recall seeing any Iraqis bombing us. I don't recall Saddam threatening to invade. Bush missed the wrong fucking country, you know, the one with an actual nuclear program (hint: it starts with an "I" and ends with a "ran")

Clinton's bombing of Kosovo killed more people (6,000) than actually died in the war civil war (2,000). As tragic as the deaths of 2,000 people are, they are not genocide.
At least 8,000 people died in just one case of the many incidents of genocide reported. Here's a list of their names if you disagree. http://www.srebrenica-zepa.ba/srebrenica/spisak.htm

And according to the US State Department, over 100,000 people died during the war.
http://usinfo.state.gov/xarchives/d...8134331MVyelwarC0.9095423&t=is/is-latest.html

It's easy to be popular if one doesn't take a stand for unpopular, yet moral, causes.
To bad the cause was neither moral nor, at the time, unpopular.

That's because he'd rather keep the black voters ignorant and dependent upon the Democratic party. Lack of literacy keeps the folks in their place.
That's a pretty serious accusation. Do you have any proof that Bill Clinton sought to systematically impoverish and destroy an entire race of people? I don't doubt that you'll recieve a Pullitzer if you do.

Wow! Bush's father is Really Powerful! I didn't realize that we had no national election in 2000 or 2004 - but that Daddy Bush just gave Dubya the keys to the White House!
If George Bush's last name was anything other than that do you think we'd be discussing him? He's the Ted Kennedy of the modern age.

Dubya went to Yale, and earned an MBA from Harvard. His GPA was higher than Gore's.
1. He got into Yale with a 3.65/6 GPA at Andover, which having been a student there as well, I can assure you is quite bad. He's the clearest case of legacy admit I've ever seen.
2. Yale sucks.
3. Harvard is infinitely superior. Al Gore got a much better education.
4. How could a C student get into HBS by any means other than legacy/connections? It just doesn't happen otherwise.

He was fortunate to have an opposition that was willing to act in the interest of the country instead of one that wants to hurt the country as a political strategy for the 2008 election.
HA, hahahahahha, hahahahahahahahahahahaha. You crack me up. I guess I failed to notice the section about destroying America in the Democrats most recent platform.

That's because Sandy Berger destroyed the documents.
Really? I think I smell another Pulitzer heading your way.

He wasn't a pimp - he was just a slimebag who abused the power of his office.
Bill Clinton is the definition of pimp.

Yea, it's one-sided. The man was by no means perfect, no one is, but he's better than what we've got. When comparing the two, I find it difficult to not lean towards Clinton.

I disagree. I don't think he was better than what we have now. It took me 10 years to recover financially from Bill balancing the budget on paper at my personal expense.

The economy is doing much better under Pres Bush - and his tax cuts

The liberal media however, will not let this good news go unanswered

Dow Soars to Record 13,000 Point Level, But...CBS and ABC Stress the Negative
Posted by Brent Baker on April 25, 2007 - 20:18.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average soared past the 13,000 level on Wednesday, but the CBS and ABC evening newscasts reported the good news in the media's all-too-frequent “yes, but” framework. CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric fretted that “even as investors are making money in the market, Anthony Mason reports there are concerns tonight about the rest of the U.S. economy.” Mason talked with a celebrating stock trader before turning downbeat: “But Wall Street and Main Street appear to be headed in different directions. While the stock market's been racing ahead, the economy has been slowing down. Housing is mired in a slump.” Liz Ann Sonders of Charles Schwab confirmed bad news for the overall economy, citing how “we have seen economic growth get cut in about half in the last year, so clearly the economy is not as strong as it was a year ago.” Mason ominously warned: “Rising gas prices, up 70 cents already this year, could slow the economy even more.”
