I Just Quit Republican Party - Now Independent

That's confusing. Better stat to look at is the COLA of the year you're living in and the housing rent inflation for that same year. This shows eaxactly how much money you're LOSING EVERY YEAR.

Example: in 2025 (likely to be same in 2026)
COLA - 2.8% (my gain $31)
rent ^ -10.7% (my loss $104)
NET LOSS - $73/month ; $876/yr ; 5 yr/$4,380
Sounds like you are living in the SF Bay area and rent. Suggestions for you.
Do you have family who likes you? Who has a home that you know who has only adults and spare bedrooms? Like say in Tracy or Manteca? Do you have to live in the SF Bay area if you live there?
Are you easy to get along with?
Is your art providing income to the point you can count on it?

I was referring to the net cumulative increase over a number of years.

For instance, an item of food that used to cost $2.00 in 2019-2020 now goes for $3.28. That is a 64% increase.

During the same period, COLA for things like SSI only cumulatively went up about 28%.

Note: food and gas are going up immensely too, but I picked rent to talk about, because it is (by far) the most expensive & constantly ongoing expense.

Also note: Although my rent now goes up about 10% per year, during the bad Biden years, rents were skyrocketing 100-200%. So where I used to live was $600/month (in Jan 2021), that rent is now $1800 (200% inflation over just 5 years. And the rents are still astronomically high (and not going down)., and we're now stuck with it.

I'm busy right now - will get back to this later

Greed knows no bounds.

As I've posted here from Trump's first Administration, there's going to come a time in this country, when just like they did when G.W. Bush was in Office, no one will admit to ever voting for, and or supporting, Trump.

So it begins.
