Generally speaking, I dislike politics and have no strong political conviction. I'm here because I feel like our Congress is becoming increasingly dysfunctional in part because of ideology that fosters divisiveness. I feel like this divisiveness is mostly political in nature, and doesn't necessarily reflect Americans as a whole. I'm just an average 30 year old dude, 8 year military vet that's getting increasingly pissed off with our government and want to learn more about other people's political opinions. Look forward to chatting with you all :)

It is tough to be a kid and a vet

I think what you are going to see with all this divisineness in our two party system is that people will take more chances at voting for third party candidates. In Seattle a woman from the Socialist Workers Party recently surprised everybody by winning a city council position. LOL...I almost voted or her myself but she was running against an Irish guy so i voted for him. I do that when I can't keep up with all the candidates.

Hey, thanks for getting your hands dirty I did too and it really makes me feel good to see people treat you with respect for being in the service. My son and Godson are serving too.
Eight years. Man, you are a better man than I am. I only did three and was scared during most of it.

Anyway, welcome.

A bus filled with politicians was driving through the countryside one day, on the campaign trail. The bus driver, caught up in the beautiful scenery, loses control and crashes into the ditch. A farmer living nearby hears the horrible crash and rushes out to discover the wreckage. Finding the politicians, he buries them. The next day, the police come to the farm to question the man. "So you buried all the politicians?" asked the police officer. "Were they all dead?"The farmer answered, "Some said they weren't, but you know how politicians lie."

Everyone should take an interest in politics even - especially - if they dislike them.

You're right about that, and you're also about to see how strongly we the people will fight to preserve that division. It's weird.

Welcome to the fray, hey hey GTA. :salute:

Hello GTA, Welcome to USMB. Hope you enjoy posting here.....there's plenty of threads that don't have to do with Politics, and I understand your frustration, we're all in it together.

Oh, and thank you for your service....

I think congressional gridlock is a good thing.

The less they do the more government stays out of our lives and the more of our paychecks we get to keep.
