Admiral Yamamoto said this of the US after the attack on Pearl Harbor. That in mind, the LHC is coming back online after 2 years of upgrades and maintenance.

What will we find next inside the Large Hadron Collider

"Taking the constituents of the universe as a whole, we have a good understanding of about 5% of it. The remaining 95% is made up of about 68% dark energy and 27% dark matter. With a little over 84% of the universe's mass being dark – not detectable by any known means – if the LHC can in some way shed some light on the nature of this matter it will move our understanding of the universe forward."

Assuming they don't create little black holes that eat the planet of course. :)

Oh, I'm sure with enough hard earned taxpayers' dollars, and enough research, someone will publish a paper explaining the universe and all that's in it. We really need to know these things in order to lift the poor, ensure prosperity, and bring about world peace. We need that information in order to live in harmony and provide the needed resources for future generations. After all, the many mysteries are holding back mankind, and keeping us from progressing as a people, and as nations. Lets hope all of that information is disclosed sooner than later, for all of our sake. Keep us posted on the progress, thanks.

Think someone at CERN's writing the book Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy mentioned, "Well, that about it wraps it up for God." :)

The mystery of GOD and his works will never be revealed until GOD wants it to be revealed. Black holes and matter may be explained one day, but not how they first came about, nor who set the wheels in motion to begin with. Remember, something can't come from nothing.

Believe it or not, despite the wallbanging in the media, we're currently living in the most peaceful era in the history of humanity. You can thank advancements in science for that. And less zealotry over religions as well. In fact some of the most dangerous and violent places in the world right now are where religion reigns supreme. I guess that's just a mystery of God that he may or may not ever reveal to us.

The Yamamoto quote is a fake, by the way. It was created by Hollywood for the 1970 movie "Tora! Tora! Tora!".

According to wiki anyway.

"As Japan celebrated their success, the architect of the attack, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, worried that the triumph would be short lived as he spoke the now famous words, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.""
Commentary by General Paul V. Hester
Commander, Pacific Air Forces
Commentary - December 7 1941 The Sleeping Giant Awakens

"The director of the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!, Richard Fleischer, stated that while Yamamoto may never have said those words, the film's producer, Elmo Williams, had found the line written in Yamamoto's diary. Yamamoto, however, never kept a diary. Williams, in turn, has stated that Larry Forrester, the screenwriter, found a 1943 letter from Yamamoto to the Admiralty in Tokyo containing the quote. However, Forrester cannot produce the letter, nor can anyone else, American or Japanese, recall or find it."
Isoroku Yamamoto - Speaker of Sleeping Giant Quote After Pearl Harbor

Shrug. One of those things I guess whether literally true or not has become as good as.
