I don’t think there is time to fill Ginsberg seat on the Court.

And what if that fallout is losing the White House as well as the Senate? Have you considered what that would mean? Nothing stopping the Democrats from pushing any legislation they want through.
I’m touched by your concern for the political fortunes of the republicans

unlike you and others here I can not say for sure what is best for trump to do in this situation

I'm of the opinion that Trump will not lose. I've seen Biden try to speak. Not much left there. Regardless, I'd take a lifetime SCOTUS over a POTUS with a divided or opposition congress. The long game is more important than the immediate victory.
Nothing stopping the Democrats from pushing any legislation they want through.
Except the SCOTUS declaring it unconstitutional.

They haven’t done that lately. Robert’s found Obamacare constitutional. And the Brady Law on weapons was constitutional. Only next time there won’t be a end date.

The long game means representing the people. Not inflicting upon them what you think they need. You are literally the mirror image of the Democrats you detest.

I have written many times that I do not like either candidate. I did not vote in the primary. I probably won’t vote in the general. I do not vote against candidates. I vote for. And if there is nothing or no one to vote for I don’t vote.

And as I have said on multiple occasions. Both parties have devolved to petty and untrustworthy shadows of what they once were. They have no core values other than winning. They oppose whatever the other side supports. If the Democrats came out opposed to Abortion the Republicans would be stampeding to the microphones to announce their support.

Neither party has integrity. As for me. I support the Constitution. Every time. In every situation. In every case.

but it could go either way
True, which is why I advocate keeping our foot on the accelerator and getting this SCOTUS seat filled while we are guaranteed to be successful. If there's fallout from the victory, so be it. We can deal with that when/if it happens.

And what if that fallout is losing the White House as well as the Senate? Have you considered what that would mean? Nothing stopping the Democrats from pushing any legislation they want through.

Has to get past SCOTUS

Roberts is irrelevant when there are 5 other non-activists there.
The long game means representing the people.
The SCOTUS justices don't "represent the people", they represent the Constitution.
Not inflicting upon them what you think they need.
All I expect is a non-liquid interpretation of the words actually written in the Constitution.
You are literally the mirror image of the Democrats you detest.
Up until that last sentence, you weren't an idiot.

McConnel will try with tramp at his side, anything to get re-elected. They have a list remember.
I’m not sure it helps trump

if the public is watching the supreme court while biden slobbers on his rubber chicken at campaign dinners then its helps hide his diminished mental state from the voters

advantage Sleepy Joe

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said unequivocally Friday night that President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy of late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg “will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.”

Ginsburg, 87, died Friday from complications surrounding metastatic pancreas cancer.

I can't wait, women will be up in arms, and the ACA will also be up in arms,
I can't wait!!

I can.

If you stink in person as much as you do as a poster, then getting your arms up is sure to fuck someone good.

How can you be so stupid.

Trump will lose if he does not nominate someone.

It's like purposely handing it back to the democrats in the even that Kamala Harris is elected president.

I know everyone is emotional. The Republicans excited to take a seat from the left. The Democrats upset to lose the seat. But realistically. There isn’t time to fill the seat before the election.

First you have to find a candidate. That takes time. Then you have to Vet the candidate. That takes more time. Then the candidate has to be presented to the Senate. Hearings and all that have to be scheduled. The average time for that is about 65 days. Or more than two weeks past the election. All while a third of the Senators are focused on the election and saving their seats.

Again realistically. It would have to take place a week or two before. So cutting a month out of the process is just not likely.

It gets worse. Even if Trump wins the election holding the Senate is not certain. So action during the Lame Duck period is less likely unless Republicans manage to hold the Senate. If the Republicans lose the senate running the nomination through will make Trumps ability to work with the new Congress that much more difficult.

McConnell says he will have a vote. But there are hundreds of hurdles to cross before that can happen. And the willingness of the Senators to vote comes into play.

A handful of Republicans could just refuse and the Nominee is dead on arrival. No Confirmation and no way to resubmit the candidate to the Court later.

If Trump loses there is not going to be any popular outcry to get his nominee on the Bench. Biden gets to pick the next Justice in that case.

I just do not see where there is enough time to do this before the election. 45 days remain and even without the election that would be a nearly record time. With the election, just no real way to do it.
Plenty of time . Start tomorrow.

I’m a trump voter and that is not true

the opposition to abortion is based on principle

Right. And the opposition to Obama naming Garrick to the Court in 2016 was based on the principle that people deserve to choose the next President to make the appointment.

The opposition to the Prosecution of General Flynn was based on Principle. You could tell because the same rules that the Prosecutors broke with Flynn were broken in other cases and in those cases it was Liberals wanting criminals on the streets.

In the meantime the Liberals were arguing that those rules were broken all the time and why should this case be any different than those where a man went to prison anyway.

Neither side gives a shit about Principles. The abuses that Obama did that proved he was a dictator are just what Trump needs to do to protect ‘Merica.

It’s all bullshit.

Neither side gives a shit about Principles.
Speak for yourself

the opposition to abortion is entirely principled

because abortion has prevented millions liberals from being born and joining the voter pool where they would vote democrat

What McConnell said is irrelevant. The powers to nominate and confirm are specified in the Constitution.
But the time to get it all done isn't. If worse comes to worst, the Dems walk out and the Senate won't have a quorum. Think McConnell and Trump are the only ones that know how the political games work? It's laughable to think a new justice could be in place in a couple of months.

Why? RBG took about 6 weeks.

7 actually, but if you think that's happening this time, you're dreaming. There's a recess coming up and the fact that the Dems aren't going to let McConnell's hypocrisy on the matter slide.

There's time. No doubt the short list has already been chosen and vetted.

It would be good for everyone to remember that this President and this Senate were sent to Washington by the people - they are not merely 'placeholders' for the next administration. No matter the outcome of the upcoming election - this President will be President until January 20, 2021 and this Senate will be seated until January 1, 2021.

Any complaints should be addressed to Harry Reid. Those tossing out charges of hypocrisy should look in the mirror.
