"I am the way, the truth, and the life."

Sorry bout that,

1. In this quote from Jesus, him saying, " I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the father but through me."
John 14 v6.
2. I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but Jesus is actually saying, he is *****GOD******.:clap2: Love It!!!
3. He is the *Only Door*, to eternity, period.:eusa_hand:
4. This actually does indeed make him *****GOD*****.
5. It really is this simple.:eusa_hand:

How can we be like Him, How can we be in any way divine if we die and sin?

How can we be like him? By listening to the "still, small voice" within.

Your concept of divine is "eternal". Mine is "timelessness".

It's called the Holy Spirit
:eusa_shhh:
Which is a gift given only to those who choose to follow Him. God is not a spiritual rapist. He won't force Himself on anyone who won't accept Him, though He will passionately plea with them to come unto Him through His son.

Like I said... I don't make the rules, I only read them.

He is saying he is the only door to the Almighty and eternal life.

He is saying all other gods are false and lead to death.

What does this mean to you?

I have my own ideas.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

What it means is ther Christians have the most arrogant, egotistical asshole for a leader which has ever been or which ever will be. That statement by Jesus himself condemned 90% of all the humans who ever set foot on the planet to the flames of hell.

Jesus is not an egotistical asshole. He is a great teacher. He didn't intend to be worshipped like a god or start a religion. He isn't a savior or a redeemer because original sin doesn't exist. No need for him to die for our sins. He died to show he was still human.

He came to show he was God and man, at one with the divine, and that if we practiced his path of wisdom and love we would achieve the same.

Jesus would be appalled by the Christian religion. He would say, "you guys just don't get it".
What's informing your beliefs?

His "sacrifice" was to be born and die. By doing so, he showed he was human, and he showed human potential.

I don't believe in Jesus as savior or redeemer.

Then how do we overcome the obstacles of death and sin?

Death is natural. It isn't an "obstacle". Jesus did not come to "save us from our sins".

Jesus came to show that we, like him, can be human and united with the divine.

What's your reference point for this understanding you have?

Do you mind going into how you became a Christian? (if that's what you call yourself)

And if it is, what you call yourself, please define Christianity if you will.

Thanks.

:( OMGorsh :( I have read this whole thread... and have become disillusioned. I once read that the bible is one of the most read books but least understood... I had often thought it was because too many people try to teach their own flawed perceptions as absolute truth for EVERYONE without allowing individual depths to develop independently. I just don't know. What I do know is what I have made it for myself and how I continue to grow with it and through it. It is an undeniable and undying love, without question.

From my Inbox, today:

John 14:6

(6) Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
New King James Version Change Bible versions

Not only does Jesus

characterize Himself as truth
in John 14:6
, but He also adds in John 17:17
that "[God’s] word is truth." In I Corinthians 15:45
, 47, Paul refers to Jesus as "the last Adam" or "the second Man," the beginning of a new order, of an entire race or family of beings just like Him, just as all of mankind is in the image of our first forefather, the first Adam. Many can say, "I have told you the truth." However, Jesus did not just tell the truth, He embodied it. He put truth into a visible, concrete form so all who so desire can see it. What credibility that gives! A teacher can present a mathematical, grammatical, scientific, or historical truth, and what kind of a person he is does not matter much. However, if a person teaches or administers moral truth, his example—what he is in his character—is all-important. Do people want to be lectured on purity by an adulterer or on honesty by a liar and thief (Romans 2:21-24

)? "Truth" in John 17:17

is the Greek word aletheia, which means "reality, the manifested, unconcealed essence of a matter." Truth is the reality lying at the foundation of a righteous example. It is pure unadulterated reality. Contrast this with what Jesus says of Satan

to the Jews in John 8:44:
You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Satan is Christ’s diametrical opposite, one hundred percent unmodified deceit. God’s entire plan is based on the premise that the converted know that God is true. If He is not true to His Word or to His own way of life, how can He be trusted? We must live by faith

in this true Being and in what He says! Truth forms the basis, the foundation, the reality, for a person’s conversion. Consider this: There is a personal, living, almighty God whose ways and laws are intrinsically right—they are true. Therefore, a person who has God’s Spirit and is honest, who is willing to speak the truth and acknowledge it when it is shown to him, and who will use it in everyday, practical situations must eventually become like the One he models himself after.
God is making us kings and priests, that is, leaders and teachers of a way of life based on revealed truth. He will not have anyone in His Family who does not embody truth as Jesus did. In other words, we, too, will be truth personified. However, for this to occur we must live it to the best of our abilities now
