I've been praying for the people of Florida and surrounding areas. Sadly, Bahamas is taking this storm all on it's own, but it could have hit millions more.

It's down to a CAT 4, let's all pray it misses the southern states.

Hurricane Dorian track finally moves clear of South Florida, but forecasters warn it could change again

Hurricane Dorian’s likely path finally steered clear of South Florida, although the region still faces the risk of hurricane-force winds from the edges of the storm, according to the 5 p.m. Monday update from the National Hurricane Center.

The storm’s winds diminished to 145 mph, leaving it still a formidable Category 4 storm as forecasters waited it to stop pounding Grand Bahama island and execute a long-awaited turn north.

Despite the favorable movement of the cone of uncertainty, which shows the likely course of the hurricane’s center, forecasters warned against Floridians concluding that they had escaped the worst.

“Although the center of Dorian is forecast to move near, but parallel to, the Florida east coast, only a small deviation of the track toward the west would bring the core of the hurricane onshore,” the hurricane center said in a 5 p.m. forecast discussion.

Late Monday afternoon, the outermost bands of the storm started sweeping over the region, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
