This is completely over my head technically and I have no idea whether it's good or bad. So, perhaps one of you here can explain it in layman's terms to us. I read where some “expert” says that the “web as we know it will soon disappear.” And comes this?

HTTP/2 makes for faster connections, provided both ends are using it.

Firefox36 and IE11 now support HTTP/2. Google Chrome will have it soon.

Not many servers support it now, but they'll begin switching over.

If your browser doesn't support HTTP/2, no biggie, as the servers will automatically drop back to old HTTP if they can't negotiate an HTTP/2 connection.

In other words, users don't have to do a thing about it. They won't notice any changes, except perhaps faster connections.
