As Trump Struggles With Helsinki’s Fallout, Congress Faces a New Charge: Complicity

WASHINGTON — In the nearly two years since Russia attacked the American democratic process, congressional Republicans have played conflicting roles in the drama: Some have pressed to impose sanctions on Russia and quietly pursue investigations, but they have been outshouted by Republicans who have obfuscated and undercut efforts to uncover the Kremlin’s plot.

And when the House Intelligence Committee closed its Russia investigation, declaring no evidence of collusion, it raised doubts about the intelligence agencies’ conclusion that Mr. Trump had wanted Mr. Putin to win, before backtracking. (In Helsinki last week, Mr. Putin confirmed that he had indeed wanted Mr. Trump to win. “Yes, I did. Yes, I did,” he told reporters.)

“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant,” Mr. McCain said in the wake of the summit meeting.

But a day later, at a regular forum hosted by the Freedom Caucus, lawmakers close to Mr. Trump declared the meeting a success, pinning blame not on his performance but on the reporters who had the audacity to ask the two leaders about the attacks.

If Russia can have something on Trump, isn't it possible they have something on other Republicans? There has to be a reason for this sudden embrace of Russia.

As a Republican,I say no. The only elected voices to say something against have no power,or sadly in the case of Sen.McCain, are soon to depart.

If Russia can have something on Trump, isn't it possible they have something on other Republicans?

WTF, so much for relying on anything resembling facts.

If you need to quote John McCain, you really don't have a case.

Nothing here.

If, possible, something gee we are up to our eyeballs in hard facts here.

That article is a joke. Trying to distract from his own eventual downfall by all his articles that have been proven to be fallacy. Keeps digging deeper. The true sign of insanity.

There is a reason Trump is so submissive to Putin. What is it?

That's it! Doncha see. The entire republican party and every republican has been taken over by Russians. Whenever a republican wins an election, it's really RUSSIANS that won. The only way to assure that the election is secure is when democrats are elected, specifically, democrat socialists. Everyone else is a Russian.

Hard facts.

191 criminal charges
35 indictments
5 guilty pleas
2 in jail.

You can't get facts any harder than those, right? Well? Right?

I didn't watch a game all last season, I can do it again, if it helps drive down viewership. Go ahead NFL, make my day.

Maybe not every one. But enough. Through proxy.

...There has to be a reason for this sudden embrace of Russia.

They're all deplorable traitors who refuse to to see the truth of what happened

Typical denard tactic, switch the topic when losing an argument.

Except for the Russians who cannot be prosecuted none of the charges or indictments have anything to do with Russia at all. The jail terms are matters of days. They are out now. The Dutch guy got 30 days and that was two months ago. In fact, the indictments against Americans are for offenses alleged to have been committed up to two decades ago.

This is why republicans don't take the socialists seriously.

Yup, those are facts, now how about some evidence tying those to Trump.

/----/ " undercut efforts to uncover the Kremlin’s plot." And how exactly has the do nothing Republican Congress done to undercut the MUller investigation? Are you trying to blame Muller's failure on the GOP?

That Hillary has spent a lifetime of lying and being corrupt and the American voter would not let her be president. Maybe if she reads the entire book on SNL?

Hillary's novel will be required literature for all party members and if the #resistance gets their wish it will be taught in all schools in history class, the same class that teaches children how the patriotic deep state managed to save murican democracy from Russian evil

Regular people do not give a shit, and in fact are very happy about the fact that they don't have to draft themselves into a democratic meat grinder.

I am sure that advocating for war with Russia is going to be very much in demand by mid-terms. Go for it!
