The current and coming "spike" indicates that there are undoubtedly millions of Americans who have the cooties right now (i.e., they would test Positive), but are currently asymptomatic, and not aware that they are infected. If nothing changes, they will continue infecting and re-infecting everyone they come into contact with for the next couple weeks.

The solution is a three week LOCKDOWN. Shut down restaurants, bars, gyms, schools, churches...EVERYTHING but groceries and pharmacies and medical facilities. EVERYBODY must stay at home unless they absolutely have to go out.

What this lockdown will accomplish is that people who will get sick will do so without infecting anyone else (outside their household). Once we KNOW that they are sick, they can be quarantined and treated without infecting anyone else until they are no longer contagious. People who will remain asymptomatic will pass to the non-infectious stage without infecting anyone else.

At the end of the three weeks, we can go back to doing what we are doing now, from ground zero, with very few infectious people wandering around in our society.

The finite period and definite end date for the lockdown is imperative. If there is no fixed end date, people will simply rebel.

The President doesn't have the power to do this. It will have to be reinforced by the Governors and the People will have to sign on in good faith.

The downside now is the election, which fucks everything up. But otherwise, this is the way to go.

If you read my thread, that is basically what I said. But without some preparation, it would basically be useless. What would happen is what happens after every lockdown. Eventually, the virus comes back.

Also, I was watching a documentary about the coronavirus some time back about the first outbreak in Italy. Were the doctors speaking about it just "libs?" Also, things had gotten so bad there that the doctors started treating the younger patients and leaving the older patients to die. Because having to make the choice, it was better to save the lives of those who had their lives to live yet than those who had basically already lived their lives. And from what I hear, in places here in the U.S. they are talking about going to that method of triage. So instead of "throwing numbers around," I think somebody needs to throw you around. Two Jacksonville firemen were waiting to get their tests done. They'd registered and were on the list, but it was taking to long for them to get tested so they left. Both firemen had results come back; one negative and one positive, despite the fact that neither had actually been tested.

The only thing that matters from what I have seen on the news and various websites, it is accurate that over 8 million Americans have tested positive for it. And over 225,000 people have died from it. Also, cases of infections are rising. But here is a little bonus for you. I haven't provided any proof of anything I said. Well, let me start out by TELLING you what not to do. Don't call the coronavirus a hoax. Like Trump did. Don't continually downplay it at every turn. Like Trump does. Don't try to make the virus spread faster. Like Trump tried to do when he tried to force states to reopen their schools. And also does by discouraging the wearing of masks.

Next, I never said anything about forcing people to stay in their houses. It's just that if they bought everything they might need beforehand to last them 3 weeks, they would have less reason to go out. And if they wanted to, they could hang out in their yards, go for walks or hiking, do some sightseeing, or window shopping, or go on a camping or fishing trip, do those home repairs they have been putting off or whatever. As long as they're not spending time around other people.

Now on the other hand, you could do as I suggested and appeal to people's patriotism to stop the coronavirus. Not do what Trump does and appeal to people's patriotism to ignore it. If people thought of it as a patriotic duty to spend just 3 weeks to be completely rid of it once and for all, you wouldn't need to force anybody to stay in their houses.
