How could American voters have been tricked into voting for an individual with the views of Barack Obama?
Not easily...not without one hundred years of preparation for the moment....
It began as a well intended and necessary reform....then Lord Acton's motto took over, and power corrupted the reformers.....
1. Woodrow Wilson, our first Progressive President was elected as a result of Teddy Roosevelt, himself well on the road to anti-constituional views, splitting the vote with Taft.
a. Wilson, inveterate racist Democrat, let it be known how he felt about the Constitution:

2. In 1933, another anti-constitutionalist took the presidency. His powers came from the perfect-storm of the Depression, and then the world war. He cowed the judiciary, and co-opted the press. The schools were hardly a problem.
The ascendency of Progressivism led us to today.
3. ' President Obama wrote in his 2006 book, "The Audacity of Hope," that "Implicit in [the Constitution's] structure, in the very idea of ordered liberty was a rejection of absolute truth. The infallibility of any idea, or ideology, or theology, or "ism," any tyrannical consistency that might lock future generations into a single, unalterable course or drive, both majorities and minorities, into the cruelties of the Inquisition, the pogrom, the Gulag or the jihad."'

a. The idea that truth is 'relative' is called 'postmodernism,' which men can guide their thoughts and actions, it denies the existence of a source of truth, morality, and intelligibility distinct from man.
The leading academic postmodernist, the late Richard Rorty, argued that liberals are moral relativists who feel an aversion to cruelty, and it's that aversion that makes them liberals.[Postmodernism] affirms that whatever we accept as truth and even the way we envision truth are dependent on the community in which we participate .

Seem to be...what?....a brilliant analysis? An echo of what so many have heard university?
Indeed, it is.
So very many have been exposed only to Liberal/progressive/socialist rhetoric that they accept such nonsense without thinking about what it means, entails, or how it fits with the founders views.

"James Madison is known as the Father of the Constitution, and when he suggested in the Federalist Papers that the Constitution receives its authority from the principles of the Declaration of Independence, he was expressing what was then the common view. Here is the famous statement of those principles:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
