Put more simply, a SEMI automatic weapon in the USA costs many hundreds of dollars. Fully automatic weapons cost 100 bucks or less in Central America. You need a special FBI permit and 10K minimum to buy from a private seller. There is only X amount that were grandfathered in from that 1986 law. They might be able to convert USA made ARs, but full auto rifles are likely brought in from China.
