I can't really comment on the reasons why Portland is experiencing this. But in the video the woman organizer mentions that some of the women have been raped twice in one day. I wonder where these woman are when assaulted and why they are not carrying mace or travel alone in suspected bad areas. And the guy interviewed immediately after seems to be well informed..?

Semi-related for any seeking some further reading on homeless camps, Anchorage, Alaska has had a long standing issue with this problem; notes from the community over ten plus years trying to resolve the issue - Mid Hillside Anchorage Community Council Homeless Issues

As recently as 2012 there was an attempt to open a homeless camp for these folks, but with the recession and an $80m price tag we couldn't make it happen. Thankfully Anchorage has always had a lot of community involvement to clean up all the trash these camps make or the entire city would likely be inundated... (Almost all the local alcohol stores and bars donate time and workers, BP donates the bags and workers (they actually donate bags and worker's for our annual spring cleaning as well, and there are many other companies as well) It's a long standing and wide spread problem that we've not really found a viable solution to yet.

Its often a "you can lead a horse to water" situation for us in Alaska; with natives from dry villages coming to Anchorage during the mild summer simply to drink, and we lose idk probably 10 homeless a year to the winters. We have shelters (which we've expanded to nearly 1,000 beds - but the rules are no drinking so a lot of the homeless chose to sleep outside instead.)

"Homeless woman must move". Isn't that an oxymoron? You almost gotta laugh if it wasn't so tragic that lefties and liberals would rather have alcoholic and psychotic (and some genuine down and out) people living in dirt and filth than receive help.
