Maybe it's a subtle difference but the Nazis murdered Jews and other racial minorities because it was thought they were inferior. The Bolsheviks were magnitudes worse than the Nazis. The Bolsheviks killed and tortured because they enjoyed it. They openly called for citizens to kill other citizens on sight. Many of the various CheKas developed specialty tortures that became a kind of sick contest--who could keep a victim alive longest, who had the most creative tortures, who the most brutal. They put on special torture spectacles in which friends and Bolsheviks would gather to watch the tortures and slaughters (kind of like the Israelis of today gather on hills with binoculars to watch Israeli snipers blowing out the kneecaps of Palestinian 14-year-olds).

During the first gulf war I was a bartender at a joint in NYC. The bouncer was Jewish. When the missiles started flying and CNN was carrying the war 24-7, this guy was absolutely glued to the TV, enraptured by the carnage. It was so unseemly and put such an ugly feeling in the air, I told him to turn the TV off. He never forgave me. Livid with rage.

There is simply no comparison between the horrors the Bolshevik monsters unleashed on humanity and the actions of the Nazis. The Bolsheviks were orders of magnitude worse by any reasonable measure.

Read an account by someone who was there and you will be unable to seriously hold Bolsheviks and Nazis up for comparison. 'Closing a window because it is getting chilly out' and 'dying in an ice storm' both have to do with "cold", but there is no comparison.

Sociopaths have risen to positions of power repeatedly throughout history. The payment in lives for their inhumanity is inestimable. The lesson to be learned is much greater than mere "politics". You will miss the essential message if you fix only on ephemeral labels.
