Hollywood stars and Donald Trump react to the House committee's Jan. 6 hearings — and the former president's DOJ referral on 4 criminal charges
Despite the conservatives’ decades claiming liberal actors and actresses deserve no political opinions, one actor’s view regarding the January 6th committee’s efforts and results follows:
“‘The bipartisan Jan 6 th commission is painting a portrait of absolute guilt Garland must act –— Or his name will be linked forever with trump as the two names that ended democracy’ --John Cusack”
But Cusack’s opinion misses the mark, the United States’ democracy has been eroding since Reagan became POTUS. Joining Reagan in the destruction of our democracy is every Republican to hold federal office since 1981 as well as the “Reagan Democrats” (moderates) that helped (and continue to help) sell the people Ronny’s “Reaganomics” snake oil.
The campaign to turn the U.S. into an autocracy began before forty-year-old voters were born, and those forty to fifty-five years old are too young to remember or understand. At 56 yo, John Cusack can be included in those too young to remember the beginning of the end.
The disgraced former president trump and Garland’s long-anticipated refusal to prosecute him cannot be singularly blamed for ending U.S. democracy. No, that dishonor can be blamed on the every Republican to hold federal office since 1981 as well as the “Reagan Democrats” mentioned before, plus the voters who elected these traitors.
The voters responsible for putting this country on the road to fascism number in the tens-of-millions. Politicians, both Republicans AND Democrats have been lying to their constituents for decades, but since 1980, the lies have convinced most Americans to vote against their own best interests. They’ve elected representation that has stolen their futures and that of their children, grandchildren, and beyond. Sadly, this trend will continue, given the hypocrisy of the Republicans and moderate Democrats the voters reliably send to Congress and the White House.
