Keep treating China with kid gloves, keep funding their military and soft power expansion, support their olympics with a smile on your face and a hand on your heart. You continue to stand back now and the fight of the future will be on your front step.

Don't think for a second, the world doesn't see what happened in Hong Kong and allies don't realize that they better cozy up to China because the old guard of the West are weak and increasing irrelevant. Not wanting to offend enemies and stand up for REAL struggles that will only reach further shores.

Queen Elizabeth will not sail through the Taiwan strait on its first major voyage, reports suggest.

How ironic!

We may have to depend on a rearmed Japan to put China in its place.

Without question a re-armed Japan is important. It must occur with America creating a rock solid defense agreement with Japan that goes beyond anything in place now.

America should also actively train with and sell arms to Japan.

I've always said, I don't have a problem against any nation that is doing what they can to "win". In the geopolitical game of life, governments should be trying to succeed on behalf of their citizens, not just a few wealthy elite and influencers.

Sadly, some nations have big aspirations that could impact us all and we aren't keeping them in check through actions. We don't need to start a war, we have to be prepared to ensure consequences and danger for those who DO wish to start a war. Be they economic, global and domestic reputation or actual danger of combat.

What type of arsenal does the Queen Elizabeth have on it's ship?

Japan is armed.

I wouldn't know and it isn't the point. The point is that is had intended to do so but withdrew the idea as they didn't want to upset China. We cannot keep appeasing them and letting them decide the narrative.

In the end, China is proving itself to be the more dominant and outspoken in controlling the narrative. They refer to slavery often for a reason. They know they have useful people in America who they can piggy back this off of, including many corporations

One has to wonder why so many are so willing to pursue this, all while in perfect lock-step with the Communists. Few seem to want to ever call out the truth or rock the boat.

Just wait until after the olympics, we haven't seen anything yet in terms of the gloating and thump chesting of China. It's amazing to see the West fall so rapidly.

Why needlessly put people's life at risk?

You needlessly put peoples lives at risk by not operating as you should. By letting other nations decide what you can and cannot do. America has been travelling through the same Strait for a couple of years now, even Obama did so in the SCS.

The reality is, America MUST lead. It's why America First had meaning. You lead, allies will follow and other nations who intend to cause havok will think twice.

The whole "hold hands and sing Koombaya" with the world doesn't work when America decides it should be a meek leader "among many". The West has to accept that it's either the U.S or China. If the U.S wants to accept a fate of rapid decline, so be it, I would hope this isn't the case.

The U.K decision on this travel is precisely the point. It's precisely why America First matters, it drags others to decide "U.S or China" and does so from a position of power and confidence. So yes, they should do as they normally would, as allies to the U.S and Taiwan.

You are welcomed to get a dingy and go to Taiwan and sit in Chinese territorial waters.

It's called Freedom of Navigation. If you don't appreciate International law (oddly enough) and just want to abide by Communist Law, then you DON'T dare navigate there.

If I had a military and a nation that cared about such laws, I would gladly be on one of these ships or aircraft carriers to express my support for such freedom.
