I recall my dad mentioning one time his dislike for the Red Cross. This was back in the 70's and he related they charged him for a shaving kit and when he opened it there was an inscription about it being donated by such-and-such group and here they were charging him for it.

I heard this podcast (19 minutes) last week and it brought a smile to my face.
