Has Hezbollah been ordered to start a war with Israel?

In 2006 after what might have seemed like a ordinary tit for tat border raid by Hezbollah into Israel a one month war began. Some might say Israel jumped over the border without justifiable provocation and invaded Lebanon. But did they? Lying in wait for the IDF was full strength of the Hezbollah forces. If Israel had not attacked after the border raid would Hezbollah have kept trying until Israel jumped into Hezbollah's waiting snare? Is that what is happening today? Was a much larger response hoped for when Hezbollah attacked the IDF convoy? It might be said that it would be illogical for Hezbollah to intentionally open a second front on the south Lebanon border. With the number of rockets, tens of thousands, perhaps Hezbollah believes they can fight a war of attrition with Israel with rockets rather than with men. What would reasoning behind such a strategy? If Hezbollah does have such intentions then the order would have had to come directly from Tehran. There are several reasons Iran would find tying up Israel in a war with Hezbollah advantageous. These two paragraphs on the AL-Monitor website, the mouth-piece news source for Hezbollah, gave significant enough evidence to this theory for me to make this post.

Many in Beirut described the speech as the strongest toward Israel since 2013, when Nasrallah spoke at the funeral of the group’s slain commander, Hassan Lakkis. Today, Nasrallah's stances merged the situations of the region, as everything seemed to be out of control and the rules of engagement were becoming increasingly invisible.

"We understand that Israel wants to escape from military confrontation and go after the men responsible for Wednesday's operation,” he said. “From now on, if any cadre or member of Hezbollah is assassinated, then we will blame it on Israel and reserve the right to respond to it whenever and however we choose.”
