The health insurance industry is done if this passes. Even the dumbest liberals surely can understand that they just have to wait until they are sick to buy insurance and the best part is THEY CAN'T BE DENIED!!!!!!

It's sad that the very thing that made this country great is our independence and liberty and the dumbass liberals in this country want to turn us back into Government slaves....

House leaders announce $940 billion health-care compromise bill

I can't believe nobody is as excited about this as I am... Libs, this is a great idea isn't it?????

Elimination of pre-exisitng conditions will result in exactly that.

Next will be elimination of the 30 day grace period for flood insurance.

And people will not buy flood insurance until the hurricane is hours away.

And P and C insurance companies will die as well.

Arent people aware of why pre-exisiting condition clauses existed to begin with?

It was due to the greed of the insured....not the insurer!

Another one to add to the list of crazy threads to appear before the health care bill passes. This is a doozy...lol

They can't be denied healthcare....until the government starts rationing....and you get to sit there sick and waiting...

You wanted government health care.

Instead, you got long lines, and death.

Barack Obama won’t care how long you stand in line.

Nancy Pelosi won’t care how long you stand in line.

Harry Reid won’t care how long you stand in line.

Why should they? They won’t have to stand in line. They don’t have to use the second class health care system they created for you. They don’t have to wait in lines.

You voted for Hope and Change, but what you got instead was socialism, economic slavery, and the end of the American Dream.

From the article in the OP, dumbasses: All Americans would be required for the first time to obtain insurance or face an annual penalty of $695

Which refutes that you can simply "wait until you're sick and purchase!"

Yea, go ahead, and pay an annual fine

OK.... A man makes 50K a year. His insurance costs him 7K a year. His penalty will be 1K if he is caught without insurance.

SO he gives it a whirl.....they wont catch me....I will save the 7K a year for now..

3 years goes by and no issue. He saved 21k....

Then the IRS cathces up to him and fines him 1K for each of the three years he did not have insurance.

Caught red handed! Yet he still nets out 18K.

Sounds like a plan to me.

No?

You can be the one who can tell the domestic abuse victims that they won't be getting insurance since they got the shit beaten out of them.

Go ahead.

You are aware that the provision that would have made it unpalatable to not buy insurance was taken out to placate the wingnuts, right? You all bitch about something until you get it watered down and then you complain about the results.

If you honestly think that it's that simplistic and bird-brained without, you know, waiting to read the fucking thing, then I have nothing to say to that uh........theory. Go for it and see what happens.

and illegal aliens ? What do they pay ?

Gawd Republicans are dumb. If you have an allergy, and you get cancer, you could be dropped for having a "Pre existing condition". The allergy didn't stop you from being approved for health care, but it can stop you from be given needed surgery.

Do you understand that? You were able to get health care, even though you had a broke pinky finger when you were five. So you get diabetes, but you get dropped because your "pinky finger" was a "pre-existing condition". Get it?

YOU GUYS DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A PRE EXISTING CONDITION IS. You are so stupid, you think it means you have cancer when you go to get health insurance. Of course they wouldn't give it to you, why, because you have fucking cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the heck are you talking about?

The pre-exisitng clause elimination will result in exactly that.,

That is why we must have a public option if we are eliminating pre-existing conditions...becuase insurance companies will not be able to survive the costs of those that abuse the system and do not buy insurance until they are caught or until they get sick....or beat up as you say.

In 2007, the Commonwealth Fund released a report that compared U.S. health care against several other countries based on a variety of benchmarks. The data were principally derived from statistically random surveys of adult residents and primary care physicians from 2004 to 2006, in the following countries: United States, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands. This is what the researchers found:

* Canada had the highest percentage of patients (36%) who had to wait six days or more for an appointment with a doctor, but the United States had the second highest percentage (23%) who reported that they had to wait at least this long. New Zealand, Australia, Germany, and the U.K. all had substantially smaller numbers of people reporting waits of 6 days or longer. Canada and the United States, in that order, also had the lowest percentage of persons who said they could get an appointment with a doctor the same or next day.

* The United States had the largest percentage of persons (61%) who said that getting care on nights, weekends, or holidays, without going to the emergency room, was “very” or “somewhat” difficult. In Canada, it was 54%, and in the U.K, 38%. Germany did the best, with only 22% saying that it was difficult to get after-hours care.

* The United States, though, scored well on physicians’ perceptions of how many patients experience long waits for diagnostic tests. 57% of physicians in the U.K, and 51% of Canadian physicians reported that their patients experienced long waits for diagnostic tests, compared to only 9% of U.S. physicians who reported the same.

* The U.K (60%) and Canada (57%) had the highest numbers of persons who had to wait four weeks or more to get to see a specialist physician. In the U.S., only 23% reported a wait of four weeks or more for specialty care.

* The U.S. also did very well on measures of wait times for non-emergency or elective surgery. Only 8% of surveyed patients in the United States reported a wait time of four months or more for elective surgery, compared to 33% in Canada and 41% in the U.K. Germany scored the best, with only 6% reporting a long wait for elective surgery.

The take-away message is that both the United States and Canada do pretty poorly, compared to most other industrialized countries, on how long patients have to wait to get a regular appointment with a primary care physician or after-hours care, but the U.S. does better than most on having shorter wait times for diagnostic procedures, elective surgery, and specialty care. Each of these countries, though, with the exception of the United States, has universal health insurance coverage, funded and regulated in large part by the government, so it doesn’t seem likely that government-subsidized health care, in itself, is the sole factor in determining how long patients are stuck in The Waiting Place. Other factors, like the numbers of primary care physicians and specialists in each country, may be more important.

Of course, we never let facts get in the way of a good rant.

I'm referring to the status quo that currently exists.

Whether you have insurance or not when it occurs, it's considered a preexisting condition and they can dump you.

Wha? you mean you don't know what's IN the health care bill before it gets voted on...?

Hmmmm...so you can comment on things in the bill without knowing what is in it in an effort to to klnock what I say, but when I show you how that may not be the solution, you criticize me for commenting on what is in the bill.....

Interesting.

You are correct.... I have not had the pleasure of what time to read the bill....I am strictly basing it on what Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the other authors say is in the bill.

They say there is about a 1K penalty per year if you do not have insurance
They say pre-exisitng conditions are eliminated
They say you can not be denied insurance
I KNOW that single coverage insurance ranges between 4K and 8K a year.

and I did the math.

Actually, that was a fallacy.
The one woman that complained about that did not have insurance....by choice.

And I am all for eliminating pre-exisiting condition clauses.

But I am a realist.....once we do that, people will play the system as they always do.

And basic risk management says that you can not have people playing the system and survive...unless premiums skyrocket.

SO we must have an alternative.....a public option that is tax payer funded as it will always be losing money.

But I am OK with it....as that is what we need to do to stop the bleeding....and then maybe we can move on and create some jobs?

Wait Times For Medical Care: How The US Actually Measures Up - Better Health

I work right next to a guy whose parents both live in Canada. He said it's quite funny what Americans say about Canadian health care. He said his mother broke her hip, and in 4 days, she was in the hospital getting "hip replacement surgery".

A girl here told him he lies and he said, "What? It's my parents. I know what goes on there". It was quite funny. Ever since then, I have been skeptical on what the Right "reports".
