This should warm all the little Progressive hearts.

“There are powers only governments can exercise, policies only governments can mandate and enforce and results only governments can achieve. To halt the worldwide epidemic of non-communicable diseases, governments at all levels must make healthy solutions the default social option. That is ultimately government’s highest duty.”

NYC Mayor Bloomberg: 'Government

What fraction of the population, when asked "What is government's highest duty?" would volunteer "to control noncommunicable diseases"? Maybe one in a million. So no, my progressive heart is left un-warmed by the war against "cholesterol-free artificial trans fat" and by Mayor Bloomberg.

Contrary to what Bloomberg thinks, the highest duty of government (read: federal) can be found in Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution.

"The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence."

The highest duties of our nation are to defend our right to life, our right to liberty, and our right to pursue happiness.

It's set out in the Declaration of Independence.

The highest duty of Government...any government is protection of Liberty.

So, speed limits are the result of tyranny, then?

Article 1 Section 8...

Government post roads...they can set the rules.

You obviously aren't a student of the Constitution. Otherwise you wouldn't have shown your fucking stupidity out of the gate.

Another Drone on the boards. How quaint.

The Founding Fathers expressed their opinion of the government's highest duty in a few brief sentences in the preamble of the Constitution. "We the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic trnquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and out posterity do ordain and establish the Constitution of the United States of America". It seems that the Constitution seems to get in the way of liberal socialist politics. How long will it last?

Why?

1. Why are you only capable of responding with insults?

2. Obviously you aren't a student of every day life. Otherwise you'd already know that speed limits exist on almost every road, not just postal roads.

Without the aforementioned, there can be no Constitutional Republic. Without the aforementioned, there is no possibility of seeing the fruition of the Preamble of the Constitution.

Not true. We could scrap the federal system altogether in favor of a United America, and still preserve our constitutional republic and accomplish the goals of the preamble.

You obviously do not have a little heart, yours must be larger.
