Why is it that its always the bible thumpers who don't give a damn about people who have lost everything and have no way to rebuild? Why is that?

Much better to lie to them and pretend the government is going to solve all their problems.

There is a reason there are still people suffering from the effects of the hurricane. It's because they've been conditioned to expect government to solve their problems for them. There have been countless charities, individuals, churches, etc that have donated their time and money to helping them. If they havent been helped by that, then the Federal "aid" isn't going to help them. Especially since the so called aid bill is just a pork bill.

Strip away the pork and actually provide aid and I dont doubt youll get plenty of support for the bill. But stop using national disasters to support corruption.

The GOP is currently so disfunction that the most routine duties of a GOP congressman or congresswoman is a huge hurdle.

The 80th Congress - the "Do Nothing Congress" - passed three times the legislation this outgoing Congress passed.

We are too divided to get anything done. Blame the POTUS.

Why?

He's not in congress.

You could blame him if he refused to ever sign the legislation they send to the hill but they do nothing. NOTHING. They work three days a week and filibuster from the golf course.

My point is that those states sending the biggest "fiscal conservatives" to Washington are also those states that are most reliant upon the federal government.

I would be more than happy to cut them loose from the fiscal umbilical cord. Those states would never, ever be self-supporting in the modern sense.

It is more than people losing their homes and their "stuff'

It is about losing an entire community. Roads, bridges, schools, water systems an entire infrastructure

Private charities are not set up to replace these things. Neither are local communities. That is why we rely on Federal aid in these national disasters. They are too big to solve at the local level

Do you mean like jumping in and stating the NWS called Sandy a storm, rather than a hurricane, when it hit New Jersey's shore? There's a difference between a $500 deductible, and a $7,000 deductible.
