GOP: Why waste money building "infrastructure"?

R

So what is "infrastructure"?

Building and maintaining:

Roads
schools
Post Office
prisons
bridges
highways
docks
rails
system that distributes:
water
gas
electricity
collects sewage

And that's just a few.

Imagine doing without these? What kind of America would be living in? Is this what Republicans mean when they talk about "going back"? A time before infrastructure?

All I'm imagining is yet another one of your famously pedantic strawmen.

There are regular policies and targetted taxes and fees to inspect and maintain infrastructure. After Obama said there were 153 structurally deficient bridges in NC where he was speaking, NC authorities were asked to speak to his comment. A state spokesman
stressed that this designation does not mean the bridge is dangerous, and that all open bridges in the state are safe.

“If a bridge is listed as structurally deficient, it means that there are elements of the bridge that need to be monitored to maintain its structural integrity,” Merchant said.

Is the left blind? They are reparing and widning bridges all along rt 81 in Va under a republican administration. The last democrat governor closed all the rest stops in Va. Carry a bucket if you need to pee. The point is of course that infrastructure repair has been budgeted and is ongoing. The dirty lie is about Obama's thousand bridges to nowhere. Stealing money from our great grand kids to finance failing factories and a years worth of union labor does not stimulate the economy.

Even that definition of Structurally Deficient is not complete. In Case also mean something as non life threatening as a 4 lane Bridge with enough Traffic Volume that really 6 lanes are needed to be "Sufficient"

It can also mean things like, a Bridge that is over a river with lot of Boat Traffic, that really should be higher to allow bigger boats.

In the Engineering world. Structurally deficient simply Means any structure that is either Unsafe, or as they said needs some monitoring, or simply that it is not big enough, wide enough, etc for the traffic it sees.

As far as Rdeans partisan hackery with this thread and the title. Why do you people even answer him anymore? The guy is Far Left partisan to the Point of Lunacy. He can twist just about any situation into a chance to make the GOP look bad. So what, Real people know were spending to much fucking money, and it only makes sense to debate and talk about every single penny further we spend, Rather than just rubber stamping Projects because we want the Economy to look a little better before the election next year.

Direct federal Spending on things like Roads does indeed create some short term Jobs, and some short term GDP growth. However it does ABSOLUTELY nothing to spark the Private Sector Recovery and good Growth that is needed to right this ship.

Obama promised a Jobs Plan, and all he gave us is yet another attempt to artificially pump up the numbers in the short term, with Direct Government spending, and virtually no ideas on how to help the Private Sector Grow. They Payroll Tax is ok, However with the long term problems with SS funding, it seems rather foolish to me right now.

Personally I don't think we even need tax cuts to get this economy going now, what we need is a more Certain Regulatory Future, the Repeal of some of Obama's New Regulations, and the Repeal of Obama care, and the Companies out their with Money will start investing it. Right now, they have no Idea what is coming, all they know is they guy in the WH is perhaps the most anti Business President we have ever had, who keeps heaping more and more Mandates, and Regulations, and Moritoriums on them, and talking about how they are the evil rich who need to pay their fair share.

Why would anyone expect them to invest one red cent, or Hire one single person, with all this vile Rhetoric being directed and them, on top of all the new Rules, and Regs, and Mandates.

It's Laughable, I for one am glad I sold out of my business and work for someone else now. Now I can watch with relative Detachment as my Boss Screams and pulls his hair out over the Horribly Anti Business Environment Obama and those who came before him have created in this country.

Dont worry, us independants understand that an investment in infastructure yeilds an infastructure that holds that value vs an investment in corruption and cronyism yeilds debt.

Conservatives have no plan for our deteriorating infrastructure, period.

First, our infrastructure isn't deteriorating.

Second, it already gets adequate funding. It's always being rebuilt. Unless you've been conveniently ignoring all the annoying construction that's constantly going on in every state.

Now imagine what infrastructure improvements could have been done with over a half a billion dollars that were, instead, pissed away on a 0bamafailure solar panel company...
