Gentrification is essentially the process of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating areas.
It reality it is essentially the building up of run down areas. This includes bringing in businesses, along with jobs, fixing up deteriorating infrastructure, renovating housing and office space, making dangerous areas safer, bring much needed tax revenue, improving the local government and schools and of course increases diversity (since many who come to these areas are white and affluent).
You see it happening throughout Chicago. In areas that were so rundown crackheads would be on every corner, there were no stores or businesses and these neighborhoods were essentially war zones where white people would not be safe to roam. These areas have been transformed with flourishing businesses, nice housing, great restaurants, diverse population and safe neighborhoods.
Liberals scream against white flight and all the ghetto needs are jobs and investment. Now they are seeing a reverse of white flight and revival of business. Yet liberal losers will cry foul! They now say this gentrification has displaced minorities and is a bad thing. Well when a neighborhood gets built up property values inevitably go up. Sorry but that is what happens. There are many minorities in these area that have actually purchased homes and are reaping the benefits.
If liberals desire investors, businesses and white people to stay out of the ghetto. That is fine but then don't cry foul when continue to deteriorate further into chaos and lost souls!
