Gay genes as invasive species population control

Thought occurs, since invasive species like cane toads and rabbits in Australia can't be controlled by chasing them down and capturing/killing them, nor pythons in Florida's Everglades (last effort had some 1600 python hunters who caught all of about 70) if there's a gay gene, couldn't it be used to make these species increasingly homosexual (and non-reproductive?)
