Gallop says 54% of Americans want more Government action.

We need vastly less gubmint action, because most of the time they are the problem.

National problems require a national solution.

Ok. But most problems aren't "national problems". Health care, for example, isn't a national problem.

A pandemic that covers the nation is. A riot in one city isn’t. A riot in several cities across the nation is. A single episode of Police abuse isn’t. Police abuse across the nation is. Police Reform is a national issue.

Depends

Disagree. Local law enforcement is a local issue. States failing to provide equal protection, however, could be considered a national issues.

Qualified Immunity is based upon Federal Law. The abuse of it is a National Issue.

This historic high shows that a majority of the people want Government to solve more problems.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- For the first time in Gallup's 28-year trend, a majority of Americans think the government should do more to solve the nation's problems. As the U.S. continues to struggle with the coronavirus pandemic, the resulting economic downturn, and racial injustice issues, 54% of U.S. adults favor increased government intervention, while 41% think the government is doing too much that should be left to individuals and businesses.

The public's desire for more government has increased seven percentage points since last year. This is one of the few times that government intervention has been favored over a more hands-off approach. The other instances have generally been when the U.S. has been facing a national challenge, including shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and in 1992 and 1993 amid high unemployment in the wake of an economic recession.

It is interesting. The Republicans who do not favor increased intervention are in favor of the Government promoting Traditional Values. So intervention in favor of values is good. But anything else is bad. Except sending more Feds and even the Army to the cities to quell riots and protests.

That doesn’t surprise me....Foreigners believe the U.S. Government is what made America the greatest nation on earth...For obvious reasons, they can’t believe it was/is the people that made us all we are.
The more foreigners that inhabit our nation the harder the push toward socialism...We have way too many foreigners...PERIOD

All we have had for 40 years is GOP tax cuts and cuts in services for people and infrastructure. We are dying for government reform. Living way healthcare daycare paid parental leave cheap college and training ID card to end illegal immigration, and mainly taxing the rich more like their fair share and giant corporations. The worst inequality and upward mobility ever is not trivia. Canada already has everything that you call raving socialists want here period- it is not that scary, brainwashed functional moron.
The move your sorry Marxist ass to Canada, fuckchop.

Those who promote socialism haven't live under it. Maybe some have RULED in it, but nobody happily pushes socialism. Who in their right mind likes having less freedom and more government interference in their lives?

It's sometimes shocking to hear, but truly, it more saddening than anything. They know not what they do. Of course, some government assistance for humane purposes and for the benefit of society, but not ever growing expansion which just least to abuses of the worst kind in society.

It amazes me also, how so many from former communist and socialist-heavy nations make videos on youtube and such telling Americans, "do not fall for this", yes, so many do, to varying degrees.
I am not talking about communism I'm talking about socialism as understood by people outside the English speaking conservative cult. "We are all socialists now!"-president of Finland when ObamaCare passed period of course he didn't know how big of scumbags the GOP is and how brainwashed their base is.....

The best approach is a pragmatic approach – there are things government does well and that which government does poorly; there are things the private sector does well and that which the private sector does poorly – and in some matters concerning governance and public policy the private sector shouldn’t be involved at all.

A blend of public and private sectors is usually the best; blind, binary advocacy of government solutions only or private sector solutions only is the worst course of action.

It’s incumbent upon government, therefore, to be likewise pragmatic, to seek input and assistance from the private sector where appropriate and warranted to address the nation’s problems.

Ignorant nonsense.

No one advocates for ‘socialism’ – clearly most on the right are ignorant as to what ‘socialism’ actually is.

Or conservatives are being willfully ignorant as to ‘socialism,’ engaging in their usual idiotic demagoguery.

National problems require a national solution.
Most national problems are most often brought about by overreaching and meddlesome national gubmint.

Actually. Most problems are begun as good intentions and continue based upon inertia. We have several examples. Militarized police. We wanted to give SWAT teams military weapons and equipment. To protect them during things like the Norco Shootout. So now we find a serious problem with every cop being issued Military Hardware. First Responders may not have time to wait for SWAT right?

Qualified Immunity. We wanted to protect cops from frivolous lawsuits. Instead we protect them from answering for egregious abuses.

Now we could admit we screwed up and our intentions did not include the status quo we find ourselves in. But that would mean that we were anti-cop in the current political climate that has existed since Dukakis.

After all that is what they said about Obama when he ordered the restriction of two items from the military equipment the cops could get. Grenade Launchers and Bayonets. I mean everyone knows the cops don’t have a chance on the street without Bayonets and Grenade Launchers.

Actually plenty of people are for socialism as known everywhere but GOP Tori world, just fair capitalism with a good safety net and always Democratic like in every other modern country today. We are the only modern country without a living wage healthcare daycare paid parental leave cheap college and training great infrastructure and vacations, and ID card to end illegal immigration, and mainly taxing the rich for a change. "We are all socialists now!"-president of Finland when ObamaCare passed. France Germany Scandinavia Italy Spain etc etc non-english speaking countries know what socialism is. Only super capitalist England and the United States have conservative parties that conflate socialism and communism and fear mongers it all the way. Canada France Scandinavia Australia and New Zealand are not that scary people....
