Midichlorians and Jar Jar were the two BIGGEST mistakes in all of Star Wars. If they disappeared, I don't think anyone would miss them.

Personally, I think midichlorians were a copout to get rid of the 'mysticism' of the Force because somebody along the line thought it might offend somebody.
