Foxconn. OK, we lied.

This is a bigger argument than this one case. What we see here is a company making grand promises to get huge socialist programs to finance them from the taxpayers. They promise the world but realities are far different.

This is why I fully supported AOC coming out and telling Amazon NO on their demands on taxpayers funds. There was no way their promises were ever going to come to fruition. It's odd at how those who condemn government socialism so quickly support things like this.

If you have a business, the taxpayers should never be on the hook for your costs.
It was about tax breaks. Not receiving tax payer funds.
So you are saying that a company receiving tax subsidies from state and federal governments isn't the same as them receiving tax payer money??

Then how come all of the whining about state and federal government subsidizing stuff like Medicaid?? I have heard that referred to many times as people getting taxpayer money for free healthcare
You are comparing tax breaks to medicaid subsidizing?
These businesses are also being subsidized...you do understand that right??
Keeping more of your money isnt being subsidized, you ridiculous dumbfuck.
If you are exempted from paying property taxes for 15 years -- that isn't just keeping more of your money -- that is a budget hole that has to be filled......by raising taxes on people who didn't get a 15 year tax holiday...

But keep sucking that oligarchy dick......
A "budget hole?" If a city, county or state is too stupid to cut a little spending for their incentive to boost their local economy, then they are idiots. That isnt the companies fault.
And once again, keeping more of your money, isnt subsidizing.
Sucking oligarchy dick? I am also not sure what an oligarchy has to do with tax breaks done by LOCAL authorities.
You really are a complete moron.
The oligarchy....the top 10% segment of society you love to see being catered to while imposing austerity on the bottom 90%

The oligarchy.....the segment of society you whine about when your racist demagogue of choice can't spout BS on Twitter and dic suckers like you whine about "CORPORATE POWER" --shut yo goofy ass up
I know what an oligarchy is. You dont. Dumbfuck.
And its hilarious how you make shit up, and then pat yourself on the back for it. Like you did something here :lmao:

This kind of thing has occurred many times, ever since the government subsidy was invented. It’s a racket the Mafia can only dream of, but government realizes it.

What we need now is an intrepid investigative reporter to find out how much money Foxconn bribed the two political crime families in DC and Madison, to perpetrate this fraud.
Only political crime family I seen touting this as some great achievement were the GOP, with Trump front and center....

But it's cool to say both sides do it tho.....that way you can avoid the point I just made
Yeah...the D Party would NEVER do this. WTF is wrong with you? Wingers!!!

I suppose you think Old Joe is a progressive and a great man. LMFAO.

Should taxpayers in other states be on the hook for mismanagement in states like NY?

Well, it isnt irrelevant. You brought it up in an OP about corporations and money.
Do you have a link that says they were going to receive tax payer funds?

But some ideas make so little economic sense that even the largest corporate subsidy ever awarded by a state government isn't enough.

Corporate subsidy by the state.

So you oppose Pedo Joe's China Flu "stimulus" bill. Funny how you never start a thread complaining about all the things you don't like about Biden, huh?

I don't support what you pointed out and said so. Accept that and quit whining.

How are you making a comparison of a company that isn't producing something to Amazon? Either way I hope you keep your thinking when it comes to the massive subsidies coming for green energy jobs.

They lied about what they would do and Amazon lied about what they would do. All the same, the taxpayers should never be on the hook for any of it. Amazon can't afford to build it's own headquarters?
They signed a contract, contracts break all the time, often due to outside forces. How do you know Amazon lied, when they haven't even finished the project yet?

It's not about Amazon being able to afford to build...the issue is Amazon can, and can build whereever they want....why wouldn't they want to build in a place that is the most benefit? The States at that point have to make their places the most attractive

It's no different then a regular consumer. I can buy my shoes anywhere....why wouldn't I buy my shoes from the place that has the best sale and offers me the best deal?

Sure, you love Socialism when you see it benefitting big business.

How are tax credits socialism? I don't think you know what that word means. I love tax credits...I love when businesses grow and create jobs!

The "deal" offered by these companies is fairly simple: If you give me a tax abatement (or something comparable), I will locate my business in your jurisdiction. That's it.

The jurisdiction can either tell them to go pound salt or accept the deal. If they reject the deal, maybe the business will locate someplace else, maybe not.

But the point is, the jurisdiction has a free choice. It weighs the benefits of having the business within their borders vs. not having it. Reasonable people can differ on whether this is good public policy, but the jurisdiction have people - usually elected people - whose job it is to evaluate such things, and in a representative republic such as ours WE ARE ALL BOUND TO THOSE CHOICES. That's the way it works.

To accept the deal and then later whine about all the tax revenue that was "lost" is bullshit. It was a free choice, made by those whose role it is to make such choices.
