Florida COVID Update: 1,338 More Fatalities. Average Daily Reported Deaths Reaches Record High

Way to go Florida. You really are succeeding in setting new record highs of deaths.

I know the people of Florida have been working as hard as they can to spread that virus to as many people to cause as much suffering and death as possible.

You're succeeding.

How about you liberals stop bussing in illegals with Covid, Dana? The biggest "super spreader" event taking place in this country right now is the total lack of security at our Southern Border and the tens of thousands of illegals that are pouring over our border! You actually have the nerve to come on here and talk about Floridians spreading the virus?

White 6 CALI leads the way
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAh--you fkd up --also DEM state Cali = they lead in all the dumbass stuff
I didn't fk up. I gave the real factual numbers on purpose. You never fk up with cold hard facts, unless you have a point of view (political or otherwise) you are trying to support. Like I pointed out, when it comes to Covid, it's not the politics (although theirs definitely sucks), it is the population, and what I posted supports it rather well. If you really want to score points on the political side (and don't know whether you will or not) check out the states with the highest percentage variance between number infected and least dying. Those states would have a political climate that allowed for better healthcare treatment during a pandemic, as public policy often follows politics.

This is very misleading.

Most states, when reporting new deaths, report the death on the day they receive the notice. Death certificates take a while to process so a “new death” in most states is actually deaths from the preceding weeks.

Florida only counts deaths on the day the death actually occurred. Meaning their statistic of “new deaths” or deaths within the preceding week, is an extremely incomplete number and will increase considerably as time goes on.

Also, Florida changed their reporting from one method to the next recently.
I have been noticing that. It is kind of shady. He article in the Miami Herald (I not a general reader, so don't know their political slant for sure) was giving number since the first of August. When I first say the number, I thought "holy crap" believing I was looking at the usual one day total. This was not supported the "swag" (scientific wild ass guess) I get from World-O-Meter, so I went back and read the article better. Their situation ain't pretty but by population it falls in line.

Since this crap started all states, all hospitals have gotten better at treating and they ain't using fish tank cleaner or horse de-wormer. Health departments have gotten better with recommendations when not forced to tow some line by politicians. Right now, they are recommending vaccinations to prevent or lessen severity. If you get Covid, they are recommending you look into receiving Monoclonal anti-body infusion therapy (Like Regenerons), just has the top of the medical food chain recommended for Donald Trump when he got it, probably saving is life, and that was before it was even approved for emergency use.

Floridians have always been willing to sell their souls for a tourist dollar. This is what a soulless covid policy looks like.

Then they are beyond stupid.

People aren't going to want to go to a state that the virus is out of control.

I would be surprised if tourism has not gone down in Florida. I just did a search. Yes tourism in Florida is down.

If they want to encourage people to come to the state, they need to make it safe for people to go there.

I right now most people don't believe it's safe to go there because of the virus.

At least in my area it has not made a difference. Most of our tourists are redneck jerks from Georgia and Alabama. All along these people have come down here to take a vacation from covid restrictions. I could go downtown right now and they are crowding together like nothing is going on. Meanwhile our little hospital is totally overwhelmed and ill-equipped to deal with this. Our county is showing a high positivity rate and a low vaccination rate that is shameful.

The people of Florida aren’t to blame.

The blame rests solely with the state’s incompetent Republican governor who ‘reopened’ the state far too soon and continues to oppose implementing the health and safety guidelines.

They have been shady about their reporting ever since they quit letting their county health departments publicly release their daily numbers on the day they have them. Still does not mean much. Shady yes, but do they get reported sooner or later? I think so. One day totals don't reflect much, actually. Have you noticed Saturday and Sunday numbers always drop and Monday and Tuesday tend to make up for it? I kind of doubt death takes part of the weekend off, more likely it is just the reporting and that is pretty much true for just about all states.
I am not defending Florida or DeSantis. I don't really care. I like that state, but don't live or vote there. They are sitting with the 3rd largest population and currently 4 highest numbers of total Covid dead. To my way of thinking, that is 1 better than I expect. Tennessee (where I live) is the 16th highest population state. We currently have the 15th highest total number of Covid dead.
Some states are better than others. Look at Colorado, 21st in population, 28th in total Covid dead. A seven position difference reflects something being done right when most states are no more than 1 or 2 from their population rank. Sounds impressive to me, especially since I caught Covid traveling to Colorado.

Florida has one of the highest rates of fully vaccinated citizens.

Comments? Concerns?

Notice that you run like hell away from New York’s near nation leading death toll. With another 10-12,000 that Cuomo covered up. More overblown panic porn as Dana prays for more deaths in red states. Sick, disgusting, and depraved. Seek mental help.

The business community of Florida is to blame. Desantis has plenty of big money support for his actions.

More fantasies. Bus illegals all over the country without testing them, then blame the red state governors. Until January, weren’t all these deaths Trump’s fault? Now you’re desperate to NOT blame Biden. Hypocrite.
