Flint officials will not face racketeering charges over poison water crisis after Michigan AG disbanded prosecution team who had been building the case for three years

17 Jan 2022 ~~ By David Averre
  • Michigan state attorney general Dana Nessel disbanded the prosecution team
  • The team had filed 15 charges against state officials over nearly three years
  • Many of the officials were reindicted on various charges for their role in the crisis
  • But the racketeering charges filed against at least four officials were dropped
  • Financing for the bungled water supply switch is thought to be fraudulent
  • It is believed over 100,000 Flint residents were affected by the water poisoning
  • Around 20,000 children were affected, with many suffering major health issues
A host of Michigan state and Flint city officials implicated in the Flint water crisis will escape racketeering charges after the state's attorney general disbanded the prosecution team working on the case.
Michigan's attorney general Dana Nessel in 2018 fired the top prosecutors and investigators who were part of the three-year long investigation under the previous attorney general Bill Schuette.
The team had already filed criminal charges against 15 Michigan state and Flint city officials, including four officials charged with financial fraud thought to be behind the public health scandal in which up to 100,000 people were poisoned with tainted water.

Commentary:
There was nothing wrong with the drinking water in Flint, other than the state having a Republican governor and a Democratic Party controlled legislature. The Flint Water Commission switched suppliers to save money, approved by Obama’s EPA and Michigan environmental monitors. The new water source was slightly more acidic than the old. The more acidic water would leach lead out pipes in homes with lead pipes, as many older homes do. Any problem with lead contamination could be averted by running the water for a minute before drinking it or using bottled water for drinking. The children in Flint would have been in the lowest group for lead in their bloodstream among the U.S. population in 1960, when lead was a gasoline additive.
The crime was perpetrated by corrupt Democrats that failed the city and state and then blamed on the then governor. Below are just some of the corrupt and criminal dealings that have taken place within the state of Michigan.

The people a republican Governor appointed fucked up and killed people in Flint. Must be Democrats fault.

That former Governor remains on trial for this, I'm sure you'll be glad to hear.

The taxpayers now have double the reasons to be pissed. Sadly they likely don't act upon it come election time.
