No Rise of Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Fraction in Past 160 Years, New Research Finds

Many climate models also assume that the airborne fraction will increase. Because understanding of the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide is important for predicting future climate change, it is essential to have accurate knowledge of whether that fraction is changing or will change as emissions increase.

To assess whether the airborne fraction is indeed increasing, Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.

In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.

The research is published in Geophysical Research Letters.

It’s the same EXACT problem alarmists always run into. There is some solid science on global warming effects IF the miniature model is correct. Unfortunately there is NO science on how the world gets from where we are at TO the model state. It happened with CFC and the ozone layer. The exact same things were said. The science was irrefutable and anyone that pointed out the flaws was a dangerous cave man that refused to accept reality. As soon as they were completely proven wrong so they could not cover it up anymore they moved to global warming and then to climate change when global warming was not catching on. It is a joke. Fear sells and that is how the left has moved this insane agenda.

Wonder how long it will be before Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol is dismissed as a heretic? Called a "denier?" All that?

Unless Mann, Jones, et al are complete morons or so arrogant that they believe their skin has turned to Teflon, I imagine those discussions will be over the phone.

I should have been more specific.

Once again, have you dingbats ever taken a course in basic reading comprehension?

What this article is stating is that of the emissions from the burning of fossil fuels, 45% stays in the atmosphere, and the other 55% is absorbed by plants and the ocean. Primarily the ocean, to the point that it is measurably changing the acidity of the ocean.

The 45% that is staying in the atmosphere has changed the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from 280 ppm, to over 385 ppm.

As the oceans are warming, their ability to absorb the CO2 is decreasing, which means that a higher percentage of the CO2 will stay in the atmosphere in the future.

Since the amount of CO2 that we are putting into the atmosphere will continue to rapidly increase, and the percentage that stays in the atmosphere will increase, we can expect to see an even more rapid increase in the atmospheric CO2 for the rest of this century.

Going to be some interesting times.

No rise of airborne fraction of carbon dioxide in past 150 years, new research finds

ScienceDaily (Dec. 31, 2009) — Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. In fact, only about 45 percent of emitted carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere.

However, some studies have suggested that the ability of oceans and plants to absorb carbon dioxide recently may have begun to decline and that the airborne fraction of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions is therefore beginning to increase

Wolfgang Knorr has done a good study. I note that he did not state that in the future, the atmosphere will not be absorbing a higher per centage of the anthropogenic CO2 than it does today, only that the amount that stays in the atmosphere has been steady in the past.

And that amount has increased the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by nearly 40%. From 280 ppm to 385 ppm.

Well Holy sh!t................if Wolfgang says it..........well.............holy fcukking sh!t s0n!!!!!:eek::eek:

Listen s0n.............shoot Wolfgang an IM..........tell him its 20 degrees below normal in Florida this very minute and a new record low to be set tonight!!! ps........if you dont get a reposne, dont worry, he's probably out back figuring a way to manipulate his data!!!!:funnyface::smoke:
