Clearly, blind partisanship and prejudice against our fellow Americans isn't working (Republicans and Democrats both are guilty). A broken people cannot act as one (just look to the middle east for proof). Perhaps compromise is the solution.:smiliehug:

Are there any issues you would mind compromising on for the sake of this country's future, be it economical, social, or religious?

Republicans are 90% white.

Kind of says how the nation is divided.

Let's start with that. So what if a certain percentage of Republicans are white and a certain % of Dems are blah blah blah? Why should race matter in the first place? I have known many black people who are intelligent and I have known many whites to be intelligent as well. Both races are equally capable of coming to the table and bargaining on a solution to the nation's issues.

BTW, whites make up 72.4 % of the U.S' population. An abnormally large percentage of whites is to be expected.

ahhhhh..., spoken by a true liberal commie, every time we Conservatives and some Republicans compromise with liberals we lose some more freedoms, e.g., liberal whiney cry babies said: "we just want you to stop smoking on airplanes", we did, then come the restaurant, "smoking or non smoking", now look at where smokers are today, smokers are the worst kind of human being there ever was.

gun control, there was a time (any period pre 1950) when a 12 y.o. boy/girl could walk into their local general store, buy a .22 rifle and a box of ammo and go squirrel hunting on his way home from school. today if a 12 y.o. boy/girl points their finger and says "BANG", instantly he/she is expelled from school and not allowed to return till a full psychological evaluation is made.

fucking liberals/democrats/RINOS have ruined this once great country.

As long as the far left is power there will never be a fix to anything except to their spending other peoples money.

Fair enough. But once the Far Left falls out of power? Once Moderates or the Far Right take over? People have to be ready to compromise. And the best way to get Washington to do something is to spread the right idea to people of all creeds and locales. So start a movement on USMB, the place "where your voices count".

Obviously you are a Rightie, if the Left wasn't in power, would you compromise and on what?

Since when did registered Republicans who voted Mitt become liberal commies? When did watching Fox News as your source of keeping up to date on the world become commie? When did being a pro-life Catholic become commie? When did being pro 2nd amendment make you a liberal cry baby? When did not giving a damn if kids said "Bang" and made hand-signs make you a country ruining RINO?

I may uphold Right values, but something isn't working. It is not just the left (although they are slightly more to blame than the right). Both sides need to come to the table and stop worrying about their pocketbooks instead of the freedom and prosperity of the nation.

How is that being a leftie?

And I was born in 1990, so I have no idea what the 50s were like.

Some of the responses in this topic are proof that certain factions in both parties have no interest in compromise of any kind. It's not enough that the opposition be seen political rivals you can work with. They are enemies from within, meant to be crushed. The good news is political message boards bring out the extremes on both sides. The posters here in no way represent the average American voter.

There are no more moderate Democrats, it is only the far left now. There is no hope for your party.

If we have moderate Republicans then we will have a balanced budget.

The problem is there are still to many RINO's in the party that need to be voted out.

And yes I am to the right of the far left, but then again most of the nation (95%) are to the right of the far left.

So you are a low info voter that voted for Obama twice.

The US spends over $20b each year to arrest and prosecute marijuana offenses, and then imports millions of dollars of hemp products from China, and cuts down trees for paper and construction, and dumps chemical pollution into public lakes and rivers, and lies to the entire world to start wars for easier access to petroleum, and grows more corn for fuel than for food.

All of these problems can be alleviated by legalizing marijuana again like we did to save the world from the Axis of Evil. American hemp will replace Chinese hemp (BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME PLANT), hemp will replace forests for paper and building materials, hemp will replace corn for ethanol production, hemp will replace petrochemicals for plastics, and marijuana will help lower medical costs and cure cancer.

Let's compromise on this. Is that even possible? Can fiscally conservative Republicans compromise by admitting that the drug war is a trillion-dollar failure that undermines American liberty and it never should have started in the first place?

Please say that you're joking. This response is all too common and I can't look into your eyes to see if you're serious or not.

Marijuana has never caused a single overdose or case of lung cancer, and marijuana has been used as medicine on every continent for over 3,000 years, so the US government passed the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 which declares that marijuana is a dangerous narcotic that cannot be used as a medicine.

The National Institutes of Health says on their cancer website that marijuana has been used as medicine for 3,000 years while the DEA's official website says that marijuana can't be used as medicine at all. It seems like there should be a compromise in there.
