Most Americans would get 5 years and a huge fine for what this guy did.

Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith was sentenced to 12 months probation and 400 hours of community service Friday after pleading guilty to making a false statement in the first criminal case arising from Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.

Clinesmith in August pleaded guilty to "one count of making a false statement within both the jurisdiction of the executive branch and judicial branch of the U.S. government, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and a fine of up to $250,000."

Former Trump advisor George Papadopoulos, a self-proclaimed victim of the 'witch hunt' against the Trump administration, comments on foreign relations both with the US and internationally regarding Ukraine and Russia, and how current events are due to policies set in place by the Obama administration.

Says who?
Says the FBI.
They never indict anyone on ONE CHARGE --they stack 7 or 8 and force you to plead guilty to 1 or 2.

Durham's office on Wednesday said that Clinesmith's guilty plea was to "one count of making a false statement within both the jurisdiction of the executive branch and judicial branch of the U.S. government, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years and a fine of up to $250,000."

If the shoe were on the other foot, the whole crew would already be locked up.

You think most people get the maximal term of imprisonments?

Dude plead guilty and had no criminal background. Why would he get the maximal possible punishment?

Ask Flynn.
Flynn wasn’t going to serve prison time.

Flynn wasn’t going to serve prison time.
What’s your point?

At first, Flynn plead guilty. Cooperated with investigators. As such, he was going to get no jail time. Just parole.

Same with Klinesmith. Plead guilty. No jail time.

Same treatment for same behavior.

Then Flynn changed course. Total 180. Stopped cooperating. Tried to reverse his plea. Started attacking the DoJ. Denied he did anything wrong. As such, the DoJ said he no longer deserves leniency.

Why don't you go troll somewhere else Skippy ?

Probably should have read your own link.
Again your double standard is astounding.
If it were Bush who spied on Obama in 2008, they would have served 10 year sentences these people like Stzrok, McCabe and Clinesmith.
Only in your imagination.

He's never had an incident before this, he still claims when he wrote it, he did not know that Page had worked for the CIA is what your article and others say.... He was a first time offender.... 5 years is the maximum sentence for repeat offenders and more egregious acts.

1 year probation seems just about right.

Your faux news is trying to get you outraged, over nothing.... the guy did not get off, HE got sentenced.

you are blinded by your HATE and bigotry
No. I’m living in reality.

Most Americans wouldn’t serve the maximum possible sentence if they plead guilty, cooperated with prosecution and had no prior convictions.

To believe otherwise is stupid.

Really should have read the thread. Flynn wasn’t going to get any jail time when he was cooperating.

Ahhh...so that makes it ok for the FBI to set up, lie about, frame, conspire, and railroad Flynn bankrupting him and destroying his name?
