Fauci is not the solution, he's the problem.

OMG, we agree on something!!
But we also need to factor in the deaths that would happen if the economy tanks if not re-started soon enough.
The governors have a balancing act, to restart the economy so that we don't lose businesses, but not too soon or the virus erupts.
IMHO the "fly-over" states can restart soon, and the big urban areas a week or two later.
We want to keep too many restaurants, and stores from failing.

NO, actually, we want to keep the virus from spreading, period. IF this spreads to "Flyover" country, Flyover country would be fucked. They don't have the medical resources the big cities have.

Parasitic lifeforms have been with us since the beginning. They are made of the same genetic stuff we are made of, but they have a vastly different strategy to survive and thrive. They exist in a molecular, nearly atomic-level world that interfaces with our own.

Like us, they are part of nature and nature's rule to ensure that only the smartest strategies provide a path to reproduce and prosper. Nature has no dog in the fight, it does not care about outcomes. It just has its own cruel rule.

Various natural plagues have confronted humans and other mammals in our struggle with nature and much misery has been suffered. Bubonic plague killed about 50 million when it swept through Europe, Africa, and Asia in the 14th century. It came from nature and was natural. Biological human responses were defenseless against it but the ability of human intelligence to connect the dots between overcrowding and poor sanitation was crucial to adapt at a time when science was primitive.

Science has made great leaps since the 14th century and fantastic discoveries have been made in the understanding of natural microbes and their relationship to the biological mechanisms that keep us alive. In 1796 British physician Edward Jenner alerted the world that Cow Pox, a milder form of Smallpox could be used as a vaccine against a horrid disease that ran rampant across the world.

In 1928 researcher Alexander Fleming observed that fungi could kill bacteria and was instrumental in delivering to the world the first antibiotics. In 1955 Jonas Salk brought the world the first vaccine against Polio, a nasty viral disease that killed and crippled children and adults globally. This was good science.

Today the hubris of humanity and monster science have become an even greater threat to our survival than the natural competitors that infect us. Breakthroughs in genetics are unleashing Frankenstein research that produces engineered, enhanced pathogens nature could never create on its own. Bad science is tampering and colluding with nature to insert genetic strands into artificial hyper germs to produce superbugs to defeat the human immune system.

It’s done in secure labs but if a breach of containment occurs we are in 12 Monkeys territory. Don’t just blame the Chinese, this ugly practice is going on all over the world in secret concrete caves. This is the source of the Coronavirus. Pandora’s box is open.
