NORTH BEND – On Tuesday, Peter Browne and his family were rescued after being snowed-in outside the Goldmyer Hot Springs in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

“I was actually quite worried. I’m rarely in a situation where I don’t have - there’s nothing I can do to make it better,” said Peter, in an interview at his Lakewood home on Wednesday.

Peter said his family, including his 3-year-old niece Aryanna, started their hike around 12 p.m. on Monday. It’s about a five mile hike to the Goldmyer Hot Springs.

“I could feel her heartbeat, she could feel mine, we’re very close, and it was – failure was not an option,” said Browne, who carried the 3-year-old inside his snow suit back to their truck.

Peter was hiking with his wife Josephine, his brother and his brother's longtime girlfriend.

They sounded pretty well prepared. They tried to dig out. Did they have kitty litter? I have been told never to go out when it's icy without a big bag of kitty litter.

At least the idiot finally realizes how stupid he was to take a little kid hiking in that weather. Some people are just too stupid to live.

i take little ones hiking in snow all the time...we hike out the deck onto the snow and right back into the house...you dont take wee ones on stupid adventures

A great socialist story. Rescued by equipment paid for by taxpayers. He should probably be charged with stupidity though.

All of the local news stations had been warning us about 4 days before the 1st storm hit that we were going to be subjected to severe weather. We got hit with 4 snow storms beginning Sunday night February 3rd until just yesterday. City leaders were advising EVERYONE to stay at home, to work from home if possible, to stay off of the roads because they needed them to be passable for the emergecy vehicles. All of this in anticipation of the storm that hit last Friday all while they were warning that the third round would begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. It actually began at 4:00 p.m.

"Failure was not an option" uh yeah okay.
