["I think the majority of Americans, the people who largely decide elections, what they are looking for -- particularly in these times -- is a really good and decent human being to be president," Edwards said in an interview with The Associated Press. "If you are a person, a man or woman, of faith, that has an impact on how they view you as a human being, whatever your faith is."]

So people without religion are not good human beings? You must be forced into a religious group to be viewed as a decent human being or get elected president? Why are Americans so damn narcissistic? All they want is for everyone to be exactly like them.

[Jim Wallis, CEO of Sojourners/Call to Renewal, which is holding next week's liberal evangelical forum, said in a statement that "faithful voters" are "hungry for a real conversation about the big moral issues of our time."]

Yea, come on christians, lets get down to the big moral issues of our generation, like if a man can intsert his penis into another man's anus. And if gay people can get married. :wtf:

This is great, now we have not only republican candidates who have special advisors dedicated to helping them win the evangelical vote. Now we have democrats doing the same thing because it worked so well over the last 8 years with bush winning 78% of the white evangelical vote. All I can say is that in 2008, there is going to be alot of christian exploitation going on. And the ones who lose, are the American people. All because they care so much about stupid issues.

So be prepared to see alot of jesus talk with all front running candidates. And for gods sake, someone explain evolution to Mike Huckabee. What a tool.

You are confusing liberal evangelicals and other Christians, more interested in walking the walk than in talking the talk, or imposing their values on the rest of us, with the venal, smug, self-righteous, rabidly intolerant right wing supporters of the Bush administration who have the audacity to call themselves "Christians". And they're simply not the same thing at all.

But yes, there will be an awful lot of bible-thumping in this election cycle. As for the Bible, which should be the ultimate arbiter for anyone claiming to be Christian, Matthew 6:5-6 says all that should be said on the matter...

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

In other words don't wear you faith on your sleeve.

Is there a moral issue greater than life?

This human life in this world should be the yardstick by which our moral values are gauged. The so called conservative movement in this country continues to insist on dragging non-issues like homosexuality and a woman's right to choose to the table. They aren't so much concerned with the consequences to lives of others their social agenda carries as they are in dictating the social agenda.
