But most are insulated from the consequences or believe any problems are a result of trump or W Bush or republicans, etc.
Once things get bad enough, they move to Texas or Florida and immediately work to destroy those places, too.

I agree with your first point, but on the California exodus part, there's another side to it. We recently moved from California to Texas, largely because we (conservatives) are not wanted in California. I know literally dozens of people who have left California in the last year, and none of them are lefties. We conservatives are getting the fvck out of that shithole as fast as we can, and have no intention of letting our new homes go down that road.
