/——-/ And Banana Republic Joe is an asset of China, so we’re even Steven.
More Trump cult gaslighting.

President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump)May 13, 2018

Too many jobs in China lost?

Trump did not mention in that tweet or its follow-ups that on Thursday, the developer of a theme park resort outside of Jakarta had signed a deal to receive as much as $500 million in Chinese government loans, as well as another $500 million from Chinese banks, according to Agence France-Presse.
Trump’s family business, the Trump Organization, has a deal to license the Trump name to the resort, which includes a golf course and hotels.

Trump drops sanctions, get $1 billion in Chinese checks.

NOT make, moron.
Borrowed.

All Trump had to do is drop sanctions on ZTE.

The company has faced criticism in the United States, India, and Sweden over ties to the Chinese government that could enable surveillance. In 2017, ZTE was fined for illegally exporting U.S. technology to Iran and North Korea in violations of economic sanctions.
In April 2018, after the company failed to properly reprimand the employees involved, the U.S. Department of Commerce banned U.S. companies (semiconductors) from exporting to ZTE for seven years.

/———/. Nice try. It wasn’t Trumps company, but an Asian one, and according to your article, “He added another tweet on the subject Monday, saying that ZTE "buys a big percentage of individual parts from U.S. companies." By helping ZTR he was helping US companies.
At least Trump didn’t drain our strategic reserves and sell oil to China. Now that would be something to be pizzed about. Biden Sells Oil to China from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Now THAT'S "Merica first".

Then again, his cult doesn't care about America.

Who voted against the chips and Science Act of 2022?
Despite opposition from GOP leadership, 24 Republicans joined 219 Democrats in supporting the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. All 187 “no” votes on the legislation came from Republicans.

Only 24 republicans....................that are now RHINO'S.

Sure...............

Trump did it to help himself.
At least Trump didn’t drain our strategic reserves and sell oil to China.
Who drained out SPR?

The US sells millions of barrels of oil to China every year IF they get the bid.
Every president since Nixon sold oil to China, including...........gasp................TRUMP.

In short, in an attempt to lower gas prices, the United States really did release millions of barrels of oil from a national stockpile, called the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), to be sold on the global market in June 2022.

Once this oil was “released,” it went up for auction for energy companies to purchase, and once the oil was purchased, it was shipped around the globe. Among several countries that received the shipments was China.

But industry experts noted that this was not unusual; The United States often exports oil to that country, or overseas in general. Also, under federal laws, the government cannot dictate where oil gets shipped once companies purchase it. So while some oil was indeed shipped from the U.S. to China in 2022.
Why?

It helped lower prices, for everyone.

The average price of a gallon of gasoline in America stands at $3.86 this morning, according to AAA. Prices sit below $4 per gallon in 33 states.

Today marks 73 consecutive days of falling gas prices. Bespoke Investment Group, in a recent report, called that the second-longest streak of declines since 2005.

/----/And when the SR is depleted - then what? We are at the mercy of the Death to America Middle East like we were in the 1970s.
We have high gas prices because of Banana Republic Joe's bungling. Now he's draining our reserves right before the midterms to save his sorry azz..
• When can the Reserve be used?

The circumstances that might require the use of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve are defined in the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA). Generally, there are three possible types of drawdowns envisioned in the Act:

Full drawdown: The President can order a full drawdown of the Reserve to counter a "severe energy supply interruption." EPCA defines this as "a national energy supply shortage which the President determines -

(A) is, or is likely to be, of significant scope and duration, and of an emergency nature;

(B) may cause major adverse impact on national safety or the national economy; and

(C) results, or is likely to result, from (i) an interruption in the supply of imported petroleum products, (ii) an interruption in the supply of domestic petroleum products, or (iii) sabotage or an act of God.

EPCA also states that a severe energy supply interruption "shall be deemed to exist if the President determines that -

(A) an emergency situation exists and there is a significant reduction in supply which is of significant scope and duration;

(B) a severe increase in the price of petroleum products has resulted from such emergency situation; and

(C) such price increase is likely to cause a major adverse impact on the national economy."

Limited drawdown: If the President finds that -

(A) a circumstance, other than those described [above] exists that constitutes, or is likely to become, a domestic or international energy supply shortage of significant scope or duration; and

(B) action taken....would assist directly and significantly in preventing or reducing the adverse impact of such shortage"

Not a peep from the Trump cult, when their dear leader did it.

  • Trump and his allies have been blasting the Biden administration for selling oil to China.
  • However, reports show that Trump did the same thing in 2017 while he was president.
  • Records show the Trump administration sold 550,000 barrels of crude oil to PetroChina that year.

September 16 2019
Following the news of a drone attack on a Saudi oilfield, which sparked concern about global supply security, President Trump said he had authorized a release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

“Based on the attack on Saudi Arabia, which may have an impact on oil prices, I have authorized the release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, if needed, in a to-be-determined amount sufficient to keep the markets well-supplied,” the U.S. President said in a tweet late on Sunday. “I have also informed all appropriate agencies to expedite approvals of the oil pipelines currently in the permitting process in Texas and various other States.”
