Europe Wakes Up A Bit

Starve them into submission. Maybe the Iranian people will get fed up enough to kill the bastards.

Isolated Iran leader lashes out at Europe as nations join US in ramping up pressure
The North Wind and the Sun is one of Aesop's Fables (Perry Index 46). The moral it teaches about the superiority of persuasion over force has made the story widely known.

The story concerns a competition between the North Wind and the Sun to decide which is the stronger of the two. The challenge was to make a passing traveler remove his cloak. However hard the North Wind blew, the traveler only wrapped his cloak tighter to keep warm, but when the Sun shone, the traveler was overcome with heat and soon took his cloak off.

In WWII, the Axis powers were not persuaded. End of lesson.

Wrong lesson. We bombed Germany's cities night and day just as Germany bombed the Brit's cities before them. The results were the same, no capitulation. If anything, the bombing made the people more patriotic and united.

What it made them is admit the fact they were totally defeated, which made rebuilding them in a way that we wanted easier.

We turned two militaristic societies into a bunch of bankers and salarymen.

This guy tried persuasion, didn't work too well.

Germany surrendered, The Nazis were defeated.

Later, Ka-BOOM and Ka-BOOM! Japan surrendered. Hirohito's forces were defeated.

You also learned the wrong lesson. The aerial bombing of Britain and Germany did NOT make them admit the fact they were totally defeated. Britain never gave up and Germany had to be occupied by ground forces.

Your point was your thinking that persuasion is superior to force. They are the same.

When reason fails, force remains.

No one has said that the bombing of Germany was all that made them surrender. As to Japan, the second drop did.

Germany surrendered to ground forces, the bombing of their cities failed.

You can make a better case for bombing Japan but that is literally the nuclear option.

They are NOT the same. Persuasion, or convincing a competitor that a deal is in their best interest, is far superior to force. Force means one party has lost, a deal mean both parties win. Which do you think is more stable in the long run?

Germany Was Finally Allowed To Surrender
Because The Mad Man Blew His Brains Out
Tojo Had No Intention Of Ever Surrendering Japan Either
They Surrendered Because The Emperor Said So

Iran's theocracy will not relent so long as it lives.

There are two possible outcomes:

1. America elects a new Democrat president and capitulates to the clerics.
2. Iran is obliterated. Totally. Radioactive lake of glass where not even cockroaches survive.

Oh there might be "inbetweens" but only for sort terms.

You keep posting a reason I did not use to support my contention concerning Germany. Why is that?.

You're entitled to your opinion.

Why would I want a dangerous attacking party to win anything? Dead men do not engage in recidivism.

Iran's young people are sick of the regime and the mullah's. Iran's population majority is its youth, 70%. They have been killing them since last year as they protest but they are continuing on and even more so after the downed plane.

I agree, we should turn up the heat on Iran.

They need to track the backers giving Iran money to continue their endless terrorist activities and put the heat there.
