Having a stronger background in the OT, I tend to view eschatology in terms of Leviticus 16 (i.e. the Day of Atonement).

I believe the Day of Atonement began 2000 years ago with the beheading of John the Baptist and the crucifixion of Jesus. We wait on the scapegoat: the one to whom all sin is imputed. Gee, I wonder who that man of sin may be.
