Egyptian-Turkish military+economic pact

As George Friedman from Stratfor saw it coming a while ago

Decade Forecast: 2010-2020
Middle East

By 2020, Egypt will be changing from the type of country it has been since the 1970s — for the past generation it has lacked the capacity to influence developments beyond its borders.
Like Turkey, Egypt is caught between secularism and Islam, and that tension could continue paralyzing it.
However, as Turkey rises, Ankara will need a large source of cheap labor and markets for exports.
The result will be a “coattails” effect for Egypt.
With this synergetic fortification we expect not only an end to Egyptian quiescence, but increased friction between Egypt and all other regional players.
In particular, Israel will be searching for the means to maintain its balance between the powerful Turkey and the re-emerging Egypt.
This will shape all of its foreign — and domestic — policies.

Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce

“The crisis with Ankara could cause heavy damage to our industry,” said Uriel Lynn, head of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, according to Yedioth Ahronoth. “If the Turkish authorities decide to sever their trade relations with Israel, we will lose an excellent and important trade partner,” the newspaper quoted Lynn as saying.

Key Israelis warn of high Turkey rift cost - Hurriyet Daily News

The United States will become increasingly reliant on Turkey to help manage conflicts in the Middle East from Syria, to Egypt, to Iran, and so the U.S. will increasingly prioritize its relationship with Turkey over its relationship with Israel. This is something that Turkey is likely aware of, and is why we think that Turkey may be more serious this time about expanding its presence in the eastern Mediterranean, including the possibility of the Turkish Navy escorting aid ships to the Gaza Strip.

Turkey doesn’t need to care too much about what Israel thinks, but it does need to care about what the United States thinks on these issues. Some bargaining can thus be expected between Ankara and Washington. For example, Turkey, in exchange for cooperation on issues that the U.S. cares about, can negotiate U.S. tolerance for a continued diplomatic crisis with Israel. That’s even a dynamic that the U.S. could use to its advantage in trying to corner Israel on other issues. In that sense, Turkey’s decision on Sunday to formally approve the installation of an X-band radar as part of a U.S.-led ballistic missile defense strategy, could serve as a useful indicator that Turkey and the United States have issues, largely unrelated to Israel, that take precedence.

Congratulations.. I guess the Syrian thing didn't work out for you. and I don't think they are done killing each other in Egypt.

Probably, your next post will be about the propaganda how USA's money-transfer to Israel benefits US economy.
Probably, Jstone (Marc39) will show up and tell us that Americans have to be grateful and thankful for this.

1 day before we announced our sanctions against Israel, both Clinton and our FM met in Paris (Lybia conference).
In same night Turkish Foreign Ministry released statement to host NATO's radars for the Alliance's Missile Shield, which was agreed to be built in Lisbon NATO meeting.
The day Incirlik's nuclear bombs are removed from Turkey's soil we can assume US-Turkish relations head to a break or a major reset.
No signs of such development, and north-east to Incirlik we'll now also host NATO's radars in Diyarbakir Air-Force base.

USA will do what is best in its strategic interest.
Contrary to the Jewish wishful thinking, the US-Turkish relations will improve with US withdrawal from Iraq.
Iraq issue was the reason why relations "turned sour" in first place.

Turkey is essential to US's continued influence in the Middle-East, unlike Israel.
And unlike any other nation, Turkey has to offer qualitative influence over this region once interests between Turkey and an outside country (USA) converge.
We have the biggest economy and the admiration of the people of this region, and we are exerting ever-increasing soft-power over them.
Certainly, all the youth who are now revolting want to turn their countries into something that resembles Turkey.

Israel is relevant to exactly 20.000 square kilometers of Levant desert.
Israel's security doesn't necessitate a US foreign policy, which produces wider regional dynamics, that produces a situation which turns against US's interests which are complex (Oil etc).

Whether USA wants or not, USA will redeploy to China Sea, China's rise leaves no other choice.
Especially after USA has fought a war in Iraq with China's money, that has produced no other result than strengthening Iran.
That is what you get for spending the money you dont have and own.
USA has to look after bigger issues and can and will not bind her downgraded $ from budget on-ground in Mid-East.

And no matter how you would like the USA or its Congress to act, the USA will not go hostile against Turkey, which shares border with Iran.
Iran's economy is half the size of Turkey in nominal terms and does not grow as fast as Turkey's.
Still, USA has failed to contain Iran for 30 years and Iran is a major pain in the ass for US's interests.
Now imagine a situation where Turkey enters that kind of game.
Overall, this is way too expensive for USA and it would change how the Eastern-Mediterranean and West-Asia will look like, totally hostile against USA.
USA will never allow another enemy state next to Iran, which has far more capabilities than Iran, maybe even turning into full-scale alliance with Iran.

Egypt is one of the countries that is undergoing change in Mid-East and with Egypt we'll now have preferential relations from now on.
As Egypt emancipates from US-backed dictatorial rule, Turkey is injecting herself in the Egyptian democratization process. And surely, we will assist them on all fronts where we can.
Egypt is the biggest country of this region and the relationship between the new Egypt and Turkey will enhance Turkey's influence even more.
I would say, that this is also to benefit of USA.

At the end of the day, USA is leaving Iraq by year's end. It does not matter whether USA leaves some limited troop presence behind. USA won't have capability to enforce anything in Iraq after it has redeployed.

The dynamics of this region will now be shaped by the regional countries.
Turkey is the strongest horse in this game, and there is no reason to assume, that Turkey has not the backing of the USA.

I'm sure, you and the other Jews will do everything to throw mud around and to hi-jack this thread into Anti-Turkish rants, like you always do.
At some point, you'll understand, that this isn't your "Golden Days" anymore, and that no matter what you write, you won't prevent ascendance of Turkey, which is primarily nourished by socio-economic developments within Turkey - on which the Jew has no influence.

Mr. Erdogan will either cross into Gaza during his Egypt visit or there will be a visit to Gaza after his Egypt visit.
Alon Liel, a former director general of Israel's foreign ministry says, that Mr. Erdogan will be treated "like a god" in Gaza.
The Independent

In Gaza, Mr Erdogan will hold a speech to millions of the Muslim world, unlike no-worth Obama speech in Cairo. Whole Muslim world will watch it.
If Erdogan would say to Palestinians: It is time to rise up, Egyptians and Turks stand behind you..... look at what Israel will be facing.

That's the price you paid for electing fascists like Liebermann and "total bullshitter" (Ehud Barak) Netanyahu into Government.
You disrespected US's approach of a 2-state solution by 2012, and you played Jew-Lobby with the US's wider regional interests. Just look at the arrogance of Jews like Jstone (Marc39) or Ropey as if USA survives just because of Israel and it's not the other way round.
Whole world will vote for Palestinian Statehood in UN General Assembly and you left USA in an embarrassing situation.
Surely, the US establishment can't "punish" Israel as it wishes without leaving a dysfunctional Congress behind as long as the US Army doesn't clean the Jewish shit from Washington, that has amassed there.
We'll do it for USA, that's what allies are for.

The war, it comes. The military ramp up is clear. It will not be Israel that Turkey deals with.

It will be the Kurds and an attempt to vest greater control in the arena. I'm an old military man and the military/political ramp up is clear to my eyes.

There is only one way to make this a 'fast war'. :(

Israels days are numbered, the time is fast approaching, a simple apology at the right time could have saved israel, but they dont have much experience with peace making, now war they know how to do that, preferably with other nations troops, AKA false flag operations

The Turks cut military ties with Israel, big fucking deal! Not like the new Islamist leaning government would help Israel in a fight anyways.

The bigger concern is private commerce! That remains unfazed!

Last year was a record year for Israeli exports to Turkey despite the rhetoric!

Erdogan's office clarified that private trade relations are not subsumed by the sanctions; these commercial ties are valued at three billion dollars a year. Instead, military agreements are being suspended. This clarification was issued after Turkish businessmen demanded to know whether they are being required to cut off ties with Israel, lest they face legal punishment.

A military and economic alliance with Egypt is set to be signed by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The deal should be clinched when Erdogan visits Cairo next Monday - the first such visit paid by a Turkish prime minister in 15 years.

Sounds like a nightmare scenario for Israel's hardliners.

Not quite a nightmare scenario yet. We still don't know what will emerge in Egypt, Syria or Libya. We needs to see what comes up there. Let's see the ramifications of the Palestinian statehood getting vetoed. Will be some dark days, but Israel will live on!

Surely nothing which Israel has influence on.

PM lauds navy's Gaza blockade; no apology to Turks
By HERB KEINON

ShowImage.ashx

In an apparent message to Turkey that its downgrade of ties, heated rhetoric and threats were not intimidating Israel, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu went to a naval base in Haifa on Wednesday and told the “officers and comrades-in-arms” of those who stopped the Mavi Marmara that “we are proud of you. We salute you.”

Netanyahu, speaking at a naval officers’ commencement ceremony, said the deepening tensions with Turkey were not Israel’s choice, and “we respect the Turkish people and its heritage, and want an improvement in ties.

But with that, precisely here this evening, precisely here before the officers and comrades-in-arms of those who a year ago prevented with their bodies the breaking of the naval blockade of the terrorist regime in Gaza, I want to say the truth in a loud and clear voice: The justice of our cause is the strategic asset of the State of Israel, the strongest thing that sustains us and gives us the strength to deal with challenges that no other country or people have to deal with.”

It is the “justice of the cause” that fortifies the navy when it protects the country’s coast and stops the smuggling of arms into Gaza “to prevent the firing of missiles on our children and our cities,” he said.

“We are proud of you. We salute you.”

Netanyahu’s comments came shortly after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, when asked by reporters about the economic cost to Turkey of the sanctions the country has taken against Israel, said, “The cost could be $15 or $150 million. We, as Turkey, would not be bothered by this. What is important for us is that we don’t let anyone trample on our pride.”

Erdogan, who has rattled the saber by promising to step up naval patrols in the eastern Mediterranean to ensure freedom of maritime traffic, and who has frozen all defense contracts with Israel, also used the opportunity to preach to Israel about business ethics.

He accused Israel of not providing maintenance for Heron unmanned aerial vehicles that Israel Aerospace Industries supplied to Turkey last year. In 2005, IAI and Elbit Systems won a $183m. contract to supply 10 Heron UAVs and associated systems to the Turkish Air Force. Deliveries were completed last year
