If only in America!

Funding given to public schools in America is not the problem, it is among the highest per capita in the world. The problem is in the way liberals run the school system. In places like Finland the students have respect for teachers and listen in class, in the US kids are taught to resist authority. it makes learning much harder.

Funding given to public schools in America is not the problem, it is among the highest per capita in the world. The problem is in the way liberals run the school system. In places like Finland the students have respect for teachers and listen in class, in the US kids are taught to resist authority. it makes learning much harder.

As American society degenerates in general, teachers are being required to raise children. Not teach them; raise them.

School could never operate in the US as it does in Finland, where the hours are dictated by parents' work schedules. It would be much better for our youngest learners to have a more compact, but richer school day--say, 9 PM-2 or 3 PM. But that will never go over because we decided we need schools to be daycare centers. Again, a societal need, not one based on what CHILDREN need.

We have schools now feeding children two meals a day, doing their laundry, supplying clothing, and seeing to medical needs. This is American "schools".

Social workers have also referred to them as "day treatment centers" for the severe mental health issues we see there.

A teacher told an admin last week that she would not be hit by a child one more time--the same child. She said if the child hit her one more time, she would get in her car and drive away, never to return.

Of course stanford.edu is going to write that the Finn's education system is better than ours. They have to write stuff like that so they can receive more funding from the government...

My kids never saw the inside of a public school and I had to sacrifice a lot to make that happen.

I just wish I could have my portion of the property tax I pissed away on public schools to use to help pay to educate my own.

It's a travesty and outright theft that there are not voucher systems across the land.

Well who has been primarily in charge of the NEA and teachers unions all these years during the downward slide of American education? They have turned it into a jobs program for unqualified teachers in our public schools if you want to make the comparison.

To much of the billions spent from college tuitions here is spent on frivolous stuff instead of going directly to educating , which is why the costs keep going up.

There is truth in this.
Bonzi works for a large company that provides meal services to schools all over the United States. They are the biggest player in this business.
There are not only schools providing 2 meals a day - but three. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Because more and more schools have after school programs up until as late as 7pm. So some kids are going to school at 7:30 am - 7:00pm.
Public schools are also getting into the preschool business. There is one here that operates from 6am - 6pm.
Let that sink in.
