All capitalist societies are established with influences of socialism and communism mixed in to their framework. In fact, indications are that capitalism feeds off of these influences as much as it is begrudged to feed them.

Can a capitalist system stand alone? Will it require extensive control mechanisms to do so, or are the forces inherent in the system enough to sustain a society? Lastly, should we aim to wean capitalism from socialist and communist inputs, or is such a balance healthy?

We need to wean Capitalism away from Corruption. Our country is awash in a massive wave of corruption and people are pretending not to see it.

They must all be related to the Poles in September of 1939 who were maintaining that even though those were German troops marching through the city and even though those were German tanks stationed in the park, and German warplanes overhead, that did not mean that the Germans had invaded their country.

thats funny with poland.

could it be utopian to hope that any society could work without corruption? we have to use law and punishment to make working in the common interest a component of working in our personal interest, but then controlling law becomes a corruptible institution.

what to do?

Corruption will always attend Government because that is where the purse strings are. We can only hope to beat it back enough to keep government honest. Right now, a massive wave of corruption is running our government. We are all the worse off for it, and we need a massive cleansing of our country before it collapses under the oppressive weight of all the criminality.

Also because they're the only entity that has a monopoly on the proactive use of physical force.

Something about absolute power comes to mind......:eusa_think:

Dude, I hope I coined that expression. Corruption will always attend Government because that is where the purse strings are. If anybody has a listing of famous quotes look and see if my statement was original. If so, the owners of this board can boast that quotation as belonging to them. I am willing to share the acknowledgment. I have had over forty statements of my copied that were similar to something said by somebody in the 18th or 19th Centuries, usually in England. Those guys were great for famous quotations. I sometimes wonder if the English cheat on that issue?

The big problem is in defining property. Even in real estate which is as straight forward as it gets in property the law is of necessity complicated. When I looked into 0% interest land leases to non-profits last year to help finance church ministries depreciation and amortization ran better than 6% per annum to simply recapture capital to reinvest in other ministries. That is how the law is written in order to avoid scams. That idea went down the toilet rather quickly. Every aspect of property has similar problems of definition.
