Looks like he got precisely one vote.
Right many of the same house R's whining about voting for Kevin because the majority nominated him are never-TRUMPer's who openly campaigned against TRUMP in 2020. F-them they all sound so arrogant demanding votes for Kevin when just a few weeks ago they were blaming R losses on candidate "quality".
Their primary function is to manage the flow of legislation. They decide which bills will come to the floor for debate and a vote. IOW, they have the power to stop legislation even if it's overwhelmingly popular. The only way McCarthy still gets the gavel will be if he agrees to give that power back to the other members to be decided by majority vote. They've had over a decade to watch him and they KNOW he's an establish RINO. I think he'd make serious concessions to the Dems to get the gavel, including sharing subpoena power with them.
