Does the GOP actually have a majority in the House?

Given the self inflicted wound suffered in the defeat for funding the DHS on Friday it is readily apparent that Boehner is not the leader of at least 50 House members. If you subtract them then the GOP is actually a minority party that has been forced into a "coalition" with the "crazy people".

The "Gang of 50" sided with the Dems on Friday and refused to budge because their demands were not being met by the Speaker. Boehner offered no incentive to the Dems either so he was effectively neutered by what can best be described as RINO's.

If the Speaker does not have a majority that will do his bidding then the GOP doesn't have a de facto majority either.

There are 2 paths that Boehner can take going forward. He can continue to pander to the Gang of 50 and take the hits or he can form a working coalition with the Dems and actually get something done.

Right now the Gang of 50 have the Speaker by his privates and are calling the shots. That can't be a comfortable situation for him given that it exposes the GOP to criticism that it "can't govern" going into 2016. Forming a bipartisan coalition would negate that criticism and it would protect Boehner from losing his Speaker position because a condition of that coalition would be Dem support if it came up for a vote.

IMO the GOP does not have a majority in the House. Instead it has a coalition with the "crazy people" and that is going to be a heavy burden to carry going into 2016.

The Crazy Republicans are actually Libertarians leeching off the GOP because they cannot survive as a party on the merits of their own ideas. This parasitic relationship is threatening the existence of the GOP IMO. To have 20% plus of your elected representatives not adhering to your party platform is a major problem for the establishment Republicans.

In essence they made a pact with the devil to gain power only to have to now pay the price. Without the crazy people they lose their majority and with them they cannot exercise their own direction.

It is a political Catch-22 and they are going to have to dig themselves out of this hole all by themselves because no sane person wants to touch this with a 10' pole.

The Gang of 50 are driving a deep wedge into the very heart of the GOP. They are usurpers and will cause more harm than good IMO. A house divided against itself will fall and that is exactly what you are about to witness happening.
