Do you think the Democratic Party is a Leftist Party?

Hi to everyone. I am an italian guy interested in politics.

Here in Italy a lot of people says that USA have not a Left and a Right. It is said that you have a Far Right and a Right Party (Reps and Dems respectively). The ones who says this often also says it about our own Left Parties when they have to run a government and they fail to satisfy what this persons want. They are usually against capitalism and free market, so I think they are just biased, but I would like to think what do you think about it.

Do you feel the Democratic Party as a sincerely Leftist Party?

Doesn't it strive with the fact that you still have no public health and no gun control? (Despite I am a supporter of the free market and personal freedom, the lack of free health and of gun control is incomprehensible to me - this are more or less the only two big things that make me sympathize with the other italian who says you have not a "real left").

The Democrat party is Socialist, there is no such thing as "free" health care and no gun control is what keeps America safe and free.

I think your read is correct. We have a Right and a Righter. Both the Democratic and the Republican party are corporatist right-wing parties. There is little difference between them.

Yes. the democrat party is a left wing party here in the U.S. by left, we mean they support the government in control of as much of our lives as they can accomplish....

Our "Rightwing" believes in individual rights, a small, tightly restrained government, controlled by a separation of powers and checks and balances.....we also believe in the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.....

And we have gun control laws....keep in mind that we have over 320 million guns in private hands....and only 8-9,000 gun murders, and those murders are confined to small, multi block areas in large urban areas, and in a few very specific states. MOst of the gun murders are committed by members of criminal gangs....and if you stay away from crime, you don't have much to worry about.....

Another thing.....law abiding, innocent people in the U.S. use guns 1.6 million times a year on average to stop violent criminal attack and save lives......

The democrats would love to ban guns........they just live in the wrong country.....

I think your read is correct. We have a Right and a Righter. Both the Democratic and the Republican party are corporatist right-wing parties. There is little difference between them.

What have Democrats done for Small Business and Entrepreneurs? Nothing. Democrats will dance with Wall Street under cronyism. At the same time, they demonize the notion that small business entrepreneurs can create something for themselves and others under a Market.

The Democratic Party is a "coalition party". The Republican Party is 90% white. Liberals are not welcome in the GOP. Along with gays, blacks, scientists, atheist, feminists and so on.

Do you understand the difference? There are conservatives in the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party is a "coalition party". The Republican Party is 90% white. Liberals are not welcome in the GOP. Along with gays, blacks, scientists, atheist, feminists and so on.

Both parties differ only in superficial issues, such as those involving gender and religious rights. Essentially, both are dependent on an economy that requires consumer spending and increasing debt.
