In Israel, officials use U.S. spying revelation to bring new focus to Pollard case

“We do not need any special event in order to discuss the release of Jonathan Pollard,” Netanyahu told his ministers. “We hope that the conditions will be created that will enable us to bring Jonathan home. This is neither conditional on, nor related to, recent events, even though we have given our opinion on these developments.”

Other Israeli leaders have been more direct in criticizing U.S. spying and comparing it to Pollard’s case.

“This is a severe case, and I hope this is the iceberg rather than the tip of the iceberg,” said Yuli Edelstein, speaker of the Knesset, the Jerusalem Post reported. “Otherwise, this case is liable to do damage to our relations with the U.S.”

Ayelet Shaked, who chairs the Knesset caucus that lobbies for Pollard’s release, said, “It is completely unfathomable that the United States, a most trusted ally and friend of Israel, would hold to such a blatant double standard by continuing to keep Jonathan Pollard in prison while at the same time conducting systematic espionage against Israeli officials.”

Does Israel realize how hypocritical this makes them seem, Johnathan Pollard was probably at least the second worse spy in the history of the US. This really is unbelievable, and please don't try to tell me that the Mossad does not spy on our leaders !!!

The hypocrisy of that part actually belongs to the US government. Israel and USA made an agreement in which the USA is to convey and release some sensitive information to Israel in exchange of another valuable information. USA didn't respect the understanding, and therefor Israel used Jonathan Pollard, in order to get the information which we should have gotten anyway.

We are well aware that we may have been spied by your government for decades. But it seems very unfair that the American government holds a man charged with 'spying' for over 30 years, a man who gave information to a FRIENDLY state, all thile Motjaba Atarodi who spied for IRAN got out after 2 years

USA should have admitted of those facts and apologized, we can only imagine the scandal had it been the other way around.

We all hope this hypocrisy of the American government will help free Jonathan Pollard, Kudos for our leaders for pointing out the insanity of the situation

And the CIA basically terrorizes the privacy rights of millions and not only in the United States boarders.

Link or evidence of proof please, also while you are at it you should inform people of what the Israel Govt. did with the info Pollard gave them. Also talk about the plea deal that pollard agreed to that got him life, and why he doesn't apply for parole.

LOL! Do you realize how stupid your posts are & how much you make us laugh? Be well & keep up the good work.

The only hypocrisy comes from turds like you who for years claimed israel spied on the US - and now after the NSA revelations and stories like this:

US and UK spied on Olmert, Netanyahu and Barak | The Times of Israel

US and UK spied on Olmert, Netanyahu and Barak

You are having to eat your own bowls of shit. Stop crying little girl, and add some salt :eusa_whistle:

Let's face it, Jewish Zionist American posters here first loyalty is to Israel and not the US.

That is what I read from their comments.

et al,

Espionage, and other clandestine intelligence collection efforts, are incredibly complex subjects to discuss in the public domain. Each country (and within each country - each intelligence service) has its own set of protocols and the extent to which they reveal a public image. And each specialty discipline (HUMINT, SIGINT, IMINT and CI) has its own peculiar requirements that shape both the true personality and the projected image it reveals. Since most laymen cannot tell the difference between HUMINT and CI, SIGINT and SIGSEC or TSCM, and the various field products in the imagery disciplines, they have a difficult time understanding what political impact national leaders and Heads of State are promoting and way. Similarly, since most laymen do not understand the finer points of visibility and detection --- or --- what it means to be overt, covert, or clandestine --- they have difficulty understanding the purpose behind certain overt acts or admissions, relative to the impact it has on clandestine activities.

The fact that an article discusses "intercepted e-mails and tapped the phone lines" is an example of the level at which SIGINT activity is understood. I doubt that there is any Head of State in the top 50 industrialized nations of the world, that has had a "phone tap" operation run against them. But since most people don't understand the difference between a phone "tap" and a "intercept" the implications of what is being conveyed to them is lost on them. Jonathan Pollard was a HUMINT source. Most people do not understand if he was a controlled or uncontrolled source - or - if he was recruited in place or spotted, assessed, recruited and then dispatched to be inserted. So most don't understand why such an discussion would even reach the level as an agenda item between Heads of State.

What is easy for most people to grasp is the that the action and public display put on by the Heads of State relative to former resources like Pollard, is not for the laymen to grasp, it is not really for Pollard's benefit, but for a very select set of assets in play. There are implications being broadcast in the open by both Heads of State.

Most Respectfully,
R

What I think many read from your comments is that you have no interest in what is happening in the Middle East aside from the Israel/Palestine conflict. This happens to be a Middle East forum, and people are dying all over the Middle East, and you have not had a word to say about this. It appears that your first loyalty is to the Muslim countries because you have never commented on what they are doing to innocent people.

There she goes, trying to hijack the topic and change the subject of the thread, again.

Billy is another pathetic one who comes to the Middle East forum and never really has anything to say about what goes on in the Middle East. He is only focused on the Israel/Palestine conflict and nothing else, and people who don't have the same mind set as he and Mrs. Sherri have can figure out easily why this is.

Pollard and his three Israeli friends were shopping 70 pounds of documents to several countries.. Pollard isn't a US patriot or an Israelis one.

Nothing wrong with what she said
Bombing in Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq,Israel and Syria today. From helping you neighbor to killing them. So much happening, and peace talks as well.
Gaza bomb maker explosion. Hezbollah ambush of fighter in Lebanon. Muslim scholars condemning islamists.
I'd like to see all the AK-47 burid with their maker.
20 Brits that are fighting in Syria have been stripped of their citizenship. Maybe other nations should do the same.
And muslims from India to the Middle East are sharing Christmas together.

This thread is about Jonathan Pollard.

Care to comment on that?

A bigoted Nazi-sucking whore, the sherrifilth, will read such lies into any post, just to 'excuse' its demonization of others.
